💦Technical Visit Drainage Improvement Works in Lei Yue Mun💦

Had a great site visit yesterday to the Lei Yue Mun Stormwater Pumping Station works!
This underground pumping station is a key flood-prevention measure for the low-lying area along Lei Yue Mun Praya Road. It actively pumps stormwater out to the sea, helping build a more flood-resilient community. The project also includes new stormwater drains and the enhancement of Lei Yue Mun Viewing Garden.
The station is already in trial operation this wet season — impressive to see the progress on site!
Looking forward to the completed works benefiting the neighbourhood. 💪🌧️

💦On 11 August 2026, the CIPHE Hong Kong Branch had the honour of paying a courtesy visit to the Director of the Water Supplies Department (WSD).

We had a constructive and fruitful exchange with the WSD leadership.
Key discussion areas included:
💧Updates on CIPHE-HKB’s recent technical seminars, training courses, site visits and joint events
💧Latest WSD initiatives on water quality enhancement, supply reliability & sustainability, new materials (including stainless steel), smart water systems and AI applications
💧Industry challenges, professional development and plumbing safety standards

👏We are grateful to the Director and the WSD team for their time, openness and continued support for the plumbing profession in Hong Kong.

🔧 CIC × CIBSE-YEN × HKIWSS-YMC — Building Services Course Promotion (Part 2) at HKIC Kowloon Bay Centre

Following the success of our first promotion, CIBSE-YEN and HKIWSS-YMC teamed up again to bring Building Services promotion to the next generation at the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) Kowloon Bay Centre on 29th July 2026.

🔧Technical Course for Plumbing Professional Review and Pre-Professional for PPPE Preparation (August 2026 Intake)🔧

Are you aiming to become a Licensed Plumber under the Water Supplies Department (WSD)? Or looking to update your professional knowledge in plumbing and heating systems?
This course is designed for:
• Plumbing professionals seeking continuous development
• Practitioners preparing for the Professional Plumber Practical Examination (PPPE)

Key Highlights:
✅ Equivalent to PPPE Part 1 Written Examination✅
✅ 8 online lessons + 1 tutorial via Zoom✅
✅ In-person written exam (same format as PPPE Part 1)✅

✅ Event Highlights: Technical Visit to O·PARK1

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Technical Visit to O·PARK1 – Waste to Energy: Exploring Bio-Resources Recovery on 18 July 2026!
Despite the hot weather, our group of engineering professionals had a memorable and insightful morning at Hong Kong’s first advanced anaerobic digestion facility.

🌟 The visit provided excellent practical insight into sustainable waste management and bio-resources recovery technologies — truly inspiring for the future of Hong Kong’s green development.

3 July 2026, we had an incredible day at the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) Sheung Shui Centre! 🚀

Together with the HKIWSS — Young Members Committee, our CIPHE Young Members Committee brought the career talk and promotion directly to the next generation of plumbing professionals.
