The way we talk about su***de matters.

Research shows that sensationalised content or reporting that includes excessive detail about su***de can contribute to copycat behaviour. In contrast, sharing stories of coping, recovery, and help-seeking can reduce su***de risk.

Hong Kong’s latest su***de data is a reminder that beyond the numbers themselves, how su***de is reported and shared matters too.

For many people, alcohol becomes a way of getting through stress, loneliness, sleepless nights, or feelings they can’t quite put into words. There’s nothing weak or shameful about that.

But if drinking is beginning to leave you feeling worse rather than better, perhaps it’s time to pause and consider what else might help.

There is no right way to grieve, and no timeline for when someone should “move on.” Instead of trying to fix the pain, simply letting someone know you’re there can mean far more.

If you’re grieving, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Our free Grief peer support groups are available in both English and Cantonese. Visit the link in our bio or send us a DM to learn more🤍
