Open Ocean Camera

Open Ocean Camera Open Ocean Camera is an imaging deep-tech company aiming to disrupt the marine research market. During this expedition, we hacked together the first OOCAM.

Our ocean camera can be used in long term underwater video monitoring and processing for marine research and data collection. Open Ocean Camera (OOCAM) started off as a University project of a bunch of enthusiastic students that wanted to make a change. Eventually, we flew down to the Philippines and started working with a natural geographic explorer where we discovered how underwater research is

a very time consuming and difficult process. Researchers lacked the basic tools to be able to conduct their studies and were more often than not hacking together their own equipment to collect data. We also realized that although our camera can generate tons of data, all these hours data had to be processed manually. And so, in March 2020, we started OOCAM to bring this camera tech into the world and provide an AI solution to help scientists sort data cheaply and quickly.
