What does bravery look like when nobody’s sugar-coating it? 🦁

On October 3, our Women Changemakers Gathering in Bali came together around a sharing table at Alvita’s home in Jimbaran, where her family business Nasi Goreng Bahagia Nasi Goreng Bahagia Jimbaran is based. Over an early dinner, our two womentrepreneurs co-hosts Alvita and Sukma opened up about the real side of building their businesses, and everyone around the table shared their own stories of bravery: the life challenges, how we cope, and how we keep moving forward. 💪

“I was amazed by how self-aware we are as women and how committed we are to self-development. We talked about real things, not sugar-coated stories,” Sukma said.

A special shoutout to Alvita’s mom and brother for cooking such a beautiful meal for our community. 🍛🧡

Last Saturday, we gathered in Singapore over brunch to talk about something that matters: women in the journey of changemaking - and this time, through the lens of climate action 🌍.

Thanks to co-hosts Sandy Tiu Sandy Tiu (I am Sustainable Studio I am Sustainable Studio | Designing Circular Futures , Women In Climate) 🌱 and Jaslin Sulaiman (VivaBloomz Jaslin | Women's Wellness Facilitator) 🌸, we created a safe space where women changemakers could share their work, challenges, and what keeps them going — no polished speeches, just real conversations over good food. A circle of women changemakers, a table full of real talk, and the ripple effect of connection 💫.

We met at Café Ripples ripplescafe.sg ☕, Singapore’s first wellbeing-focused café and an extension of The School of Positive Psychology’s mission to make mental wellness a lived, everyday practice. It was the perfect calm-in-between space to pause, reflect, and connect - a fitting home for a Saturday about showing up for each other 🤍.

Our community is growing, and so is the collective impact we’re building together. Thank you all for being part of this movement 🙏.

Janina Voss lived, worked and studied in 7 different countries. She obtained her Master of Science in European Business at ESCP Europe Business School which then enabled her to become a serial entrepreneur, social start-up business consultant and certified workshop trainer. Janina has over 10 years of experience teaching practically oriented social entrepreneurship workshops to university students from around the world.

As Co-CEO and Co-Founder of People & Friends, she also develops and facilitates customized short-term experiential learning study tours for university students who want to travel to Western Europe or Asia. She and her company are strong supporters of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strive to integrate these as core themes in their study tours. Through these study tours, she and her company create more awareness about inspiring social start-ups that get to present their SDG supporting organizations to students. Moreover, she and her team equip students with a social entrepreneurship skillset and enables them to become social impact creators of the future.

This December, Girls Be Change is heading to Chai Lai Orchid Chai Lai Orchid -Chiang Mai — a mountain eco-resort in the hills of Chiang Mai, Thailand — for a Women’s Healing & Changemaking Retreat unlike anything else. ⛰️🧘‍♀️

We’re co-hosting alongside DaughtersRising , an NGO empowering at-risk girls and women against trafficking and exploitation, and McKendra Energies , bringing energy healing and self-care to the week.

Day 1 (12/15) — Arrive & Belong
 The moment you step into Chai Lai Orchid, something shifts. 🌿 Meet your cohosts, settle into your bamboo bungalow, and let the rescued elephants welcome you in for Elephant Hour. This is where the reset begins.

Day 2 (12/16) — One with Nature
 Trek beside rescued elephants through the jungle with local guides who know these mountains best. 🐘 Then ground yourself with morning and evening wellness — yoga, breathwork, energy healing — because reconnecting with nature starts with reconnecting with yourself.

Day 3 (12/17) — Find Your Voice
 Today, you lead. In our Impact Capacity Building workshop, we’ll exchange stories and empower each other with tools in personal development. Then we cook alongside the Karen community — because the best conversations happen over a shared meal. 🍲

Day 4 (12/18) — Give & Receive
 Spend the morning teaching local girls at Kids House — a reminder that empowerment moves in both directions. Then let the river carry you on a bamboo rafting adventure down the mountain. 🚣‍♀️

Day 5 (12/19) — Sacred & Still
 A secret temple. A hidden waterfall. Traditional bamboo cooking with the Karen community. Discover the secret and sacred places in the mountains — and in yourself. ✨

Day 6 (12/20) — Carry It Home
 One last reflective wellness hour. A group photoshoot with the elephants who welcomed you in. And a sisterhood you‘re taking home with you — this isn’t goodbye, it‘s see you soon. 💛
