Big Conversations Start With One Small Step

This Addiction Awareness Week, we're encouraging people to have the conversations that are often left unsaid.

Addiction and destructive habits can thrive in silence, but recovery often begins when someone feels able to say, "I'm struggling" and knows they'll be met with understanding, not judgement.

In this video, Linda and Mike from the STAR team share why talking openly about addiction matters and how taking that first step can be the beginning of lasting change.

If you're facing addiction, a destructive habit, or a compulsive behaviour, let this be your reminder: you don't have to carry it alone. Reaching out can feel daunting, but every recovery journey starts somewhere, and that first conversation could be the step that changes everything.

A quick update about our Explore Group — we’re moving to Wednesdays!
Starting Wednesday 23rd September, the group will now run mid‑week at 7:15 pm, helping us keep a steady, consistent rhythm of support for everyone who attends.

In relaxed, informal conversations led by Michael, our STAR Recovery Lead, we explore themes that shape the recovery journey - guilt, anger, resentments, unforgiveness, self-worth, and temptation - always with compassion, honesty, and hope. This is a place to keep learning, keep growing, and keep moving forward in body, mind, and spirit.

A Belated Thank You to the Wave Bus

Some spaces make room for recovery in a way that feels natural - like it belongs right there in the middle of community. The Wave Bus did exactly that for us at 2026, and we want to say a heartfelt thank you for hosting STAR’s daily recovery meetings over the weekend.

Your team created an environment where people could pause, breathe, talk honestly, and explore hope in a way that felt safe and authentic. We met incredible individuals and shared meaningful conversations all because you opened your doors and made space for recovery to be part of the festival rhythm.
