Every 2nd of April is the World Autism Awareness Day. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave. People with such invisible disability often have challenges with social communication, interaction, and restricted behaviours, who often faces unique difficulties, discrimination or can lead to missed opportunities at workplace. Here are a few areas we can all consider in supporting autistic employees.
Be mindful when dealing with people - not everyone is the same and looks can be deceiving
Create an inclusive office culture
Re-enforce discrimination policy
Get all employees educated on Autism
Create a safe and quiet focus areas
Offer Wellness Room
Offer Flexible Work Hours
Accommodate their sensory needs
Show respect, empathy and be an ally

世界提高自閉症意識日是每年的4月2日。自閉症譜系障礙 (ASD) 是一種神經和發展障礙，影響人們與他人互動、溝通、學習和行為的方式。患有這種隱形殘疾的人通常在社交溝通、互動和行為受限方面面臨挑戰，他們經常面對別人不會理解的困難、歧視或可能導致錯失工作機會。在支持患有自閉症員工時，我們可以考慮以下幾個方面:
1. 不是每個人都一樣的，我們不能透過外表來判斷，與人打交道時需要保持開放態度
2. 營造包容的辦公室文化
3. 強化歧視政策
4. 教育所有員工對自閉症的知識
5. 提供安全、安靜的工作室或區域
6. 提供健康室
7. 提供彈性的工作時間
8. 滿足他們的感官需求 (例如：對痛楚或溫度的刺激感覺過弱；對某些聲音、顏色、光線或質感反應強烈，焦躁不安等)。
