【Behind the Scenes | we continue to explore: How can AI make frontline training safer and more reflective of real-world practice?】
“When practitioners are just beginning to learn ACT, where can they try, make mistakes, and adjust?”
This was one of the key ideas we hoped to share in our interview with the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
A workshop can introduce concepts, and supervision can provide guidance. Yet in real service settings, no conversation comes with a “pause” or “try again” button. When service users express self-blame, helplessness, avoidance, or intense emotions, practitioners need to respond while making professional judgments in the moment—with virtually no margin for error.
✨This is one of the starting points behind the AIxACT Training Platform.
Through interactive dialogues with virtual cases, the AIxACT Training Platform aims to give social workers, counsellors, and other frontline practitioners an opportunity to practice ACT-based responses before working with real service users. In a safe and repeatable setting, practitioners can try different approaches, observe how a conversation develops, and receive structured feedback on areas that could be strengthened.
💭This is not about AI “scoring” practitioners. It is a space where they can pause, try, reflect, and try again.
AI is not intended to replace practitioners, supervisors, or human relationships. We hope it can create an additional space within busy service settings where practitioners can practice with confidence—while allowing formal supervision to focus more deeply on complex cases and professional judgment, improving overall service quality.
These five behind-the-scenes photos capture more than the filming of an interview. They reflect a question we continue to explore: How can technology genuinely assist frontline staff in training and service delivery?
