Meet Thomas and Aurore from RHYTHM STUDIO who teach Slow Swing and Blues every Sunday at 12h30 at DANCETRINITY.
↪️ Here let them introduce themselves in their own words:
After more than a decade of exploring different kinds of music and partner dance, we’ve come to see dancing less as a set of moves and more as a way to respond to what we hear, whether we’re dancing alone or with someone else.
In our blues classes, we work on technique and connection, but the music always comes first. We want to help you listen, find what moves you, and let your dancing reflect your own experience of the song. Blues can be simple in form and deep in history. Our hope is to make space for you to explore it with curiosity, connect with your partner, and above all, enjoy yourself.
Quote
“The acceptance of this anguish one finds in the blues, and the expression of it, creates also, however odd this may sound, a kind of joy.” - James Baldwin
Many blues songs are rooted in grief, loss and hardship. Yet, by expressing and accepting these experiences, the blues transforms suffering into something that can also contain peace, connection and joy. It does not deny the difficulties of life, but faces them honestly and finds a reason to keep going. In that sense, the blues reflects a stoic approach to living, finding perseverance and even happiness in the midst of hardship.
