【 Annual General Meeting 2026 Highlights Economic Outlook】
The CMA hosted its 2026 annual general meeting ( ) today. President Dr Wingco Lo reviewed the CMA’s progress over the past year and shared the latest economic outlook🔎. He noted that Hong Kong’s economy showed strong momentum in the first half of 2026, though external headwinds persist; overall, he remains cautiously optimistic.

The CMA forecasts full-year growth of about 4.3% in 2026 and around 3% in 2027, despite the Federal Reserve’s rate hikes and base effects. Inflation may edge up in the near term amid oil price volatility and geopolitical tensions, with expected to rise by 2%–3% in both 2026 and 2027📈.

President Lo emphasised that local businesses continue to face compounding pressures, including geopolitical risks, rising operating costs, sluggish demand, and the complexities of business transformation. The CMA will strengthen its bridging role by supporting enterprises to build resilience, create value and enhance competitiveness💪, while aligning its initiatives with Hong Kong’s first Five-Year Plan and the 2026 Policy Address to deliver more targeted support🎯.
