中國院士傑出講座
Chinese Academician Distinguished Lecture

Since its inauguration in 2023, the Chinese Academician Distinguished Lecture (CADL, 中國院士傑出講座) has been one of the most anticipated highlights of the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) of the Hong Kong Chinese Medical Association (HKCMA).

The HKCMA has demonstrated a remarkable vision in establishing the CADL and spearheaded the implementation of this prestigious initiative. In its inaugural year, we were tremendously honored to have Professor Kao Fu (高福院士) to be our first CADL speaker. His lecture demonstrated the breadth and depth of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS, 中國科學院) Academician in leading Greater China in combating the COVID pandemic. In 2024, as nominated by Sun Yat-sen University HK Alumni Association, CAS Academician Professor Ma Jun (馬駿院士) told the story of how China refines the precise diagnosis and management of nasopharyngeal cancer, and guides global clinical practice with Chinese wisdom. Since 2025, with the kind guidance and facilitation of the Chinese Medical Association (CMA, 中華醫學會) based in Beijing, the HKCMA has been privileged to be able to invite other renowned Academicians from the CAS or Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE, 中國工程院) to grace our ASM. For example, in 2025, Prof. Huang Xiao-jun (黃曉軍院士), Academician from CAE, shared the “Beijing protocol” in managing haematological malignancies. His talk enlightened us on how contributions from China have revolutionised the landscape of leukaemia management globally. This year, Prof. Lu Lin (陸林院士), Academician from CAS, will share with us his wisdom on the development of Artificial Intelligence and its application in clinical medicine at the national level.

Since 2024, the CADL has been made possible by the generous endowment of a prominent Hong Kong family, who has chosen to stay anonymous. The HKCMA would like to extend her deepest gratitude to the benefactor family for their utmost generosity in supporting our notable cause. Their steadfast support has made it possible to bring world-class scientists to Hong Kong, enriching the local academic landscape and empowering the next generation to shape the future of Medicine.

Launch out of revamped HKCMA website

Dear HKCMA members,

I am proud to present to you the newly revamped HKCMA website (hk-cma.org), which contains, in addition to the previously presented history and cabinet composition, a complete portfolio of what HKCMA has achieved over the past few years: the annual and periodic professional engagements, our community outreach programmes, and our donors and sponsors, among others.

This newly revamped website is the final product of a year-long project involving many parties, from the re-configuration of our sitemap (succinctly captured by Ms Denise Chow), to the collection and organisation of massive information and photos undertaken by various council members, including Drs Norman Chan, Catherine Chen, Christopher Hui, MK P**n, Adrian Leung, Albert Kong and myself. The most challenging part remains the uploading of massive amount of info by our website manager Mr. Daniel Au of Medcom, whose patience and perseverance as well as professional judgment deserve a big round of applause. In appreciation of his very important contribution, I have included the Medcom logo at the end of this letter as our small token of thanks.

You will enjoy browsing our website and viewing our diverse activities and interesting photos. You will appreciate that the HKCMA council has worked very hard to bring positive energy to the medical community through educational activities, the celebration of the 中國醫師節, our engagement with experts, and our outreach to the community. Photography lovers will be delighted to view selected photos of our members from the outing to Ap Chau. HKCMA has set the tone and taken action to foster medical fellowship and fraternity, and together we can make the Hong Kong medical community an immense force in advancing wellness in Hong Kong.

With all my best wishes,

Faithfully yours,
