Product: Spray Citronella
Citronella is a popular plant-based, DEET free insect repellant that works by masking the scents that attract bugs like mosquitoes and gnats.
Effectiveness: It does not kill insects, but acts as a spatial or topical deterrent.
Best practices for applications:
1. Perform a patch test- Spray a small amount on a localized area and observe for 24 hrs.
2. Avoid the eyes and mucous membranes- Never Spray directly into the horse's face, Spray the Product into a clean cloth,sponge or rag and carefully wipe it onto the ears,muzzle and around the eyes.
3. Frequent reapplication- Because Citronella is a natural essential oil, it evaporates more quickly than heavy chemical sprays. Frequent application often once or twice a day is required for full effectiveness.
4. Target areas- Focus on the legs, shoulders, shanks and neck, where insects tend to land the most.
