Mister Cultured Guyana Launches “Threads of Care” Clothing Drive to Support Venezuelan Migrants

The reigning Mister Cultured Guyana, Mr. John Forde, through his ongoing Cultured with a Purpose Initiative, successfully hosted “Threads of Care” on August 17th, 2025—a humanitarian clothing drive dedicated to supporting Venezuelan migrants seeking relief and stability in Guyana.

The project highlighted the importance of compassion in cultural identity and underscored the Initiative’s mission of using culture as a tool for empowerment and community development.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Forde in essence, emphasized:
“True culture is not only about the traditions we preserve but the humanity we extend. In these challenging times, when our Venezuelan brothers and sisters face hardship, let us put aside popular opinions that they have come to take over Guyana. Instead, let us embrace the call to hospitality, ensuring dignity, kindness, and compassion guide our response.”

The success of Threads of Care was made possible through the generous contributions of the following organizations:
- Civil Defence Commission
- Department of Agriculture – Region 9
- Cindy’s Bus Service
- Rahaman’s Consultancy
- Eden Fresh Juices
-Lethem Assembly of God

The Cultured with a Purpose team, comprised of Monica Joseph, Ricardo Robertson, Triton Cort, Odelia Hilken, Shinay Stephen, Danilo Singh, and Maximus Griffith, worked tirelessly to coordinate the initiative. They were further supported by dedicated volunteers, including Dr. Darren Halley, Carlos Rahaman, Merilyn Jeffreys-Bell, Renée Benjamin, Vaughn Arthur, Christopher Daniels, Anatha Anthony, Uranie Williams, Sunita Persaud, Regina Robertson, and Angelisa DaSilva.

Together, this collaboration ensured that vital supplies reached those in need, reinforcing the values of unity and shared responsibility.

🇬🇾🌾 Guyanese Culture on Show at AgroBV 2025! 🌾🇧🇷

Every year, the vibrant city of Boa Vista, Brazil, comes alive with the AgroBV Agriculture Fair—a celebration of innovation, culture, and community in agriculture. For years, the General Consulate of Guyana in Brazil, in collaboration with Region 9’s Agriculture Department, has proudly represented Guyana among the diverse vendors, showcasing our rich culture, craft, and cuisine to thousands of visitors.

But this year marks a historic first—Guyanese athletes were officially invited to participate in the AgroBV Cross Country 5K Run, joining thousands of participants from across Brazil and beyond! 🇬🇾🏃🏽‍♂️💨

Leading this monumental moment was Mr. John Forde, the reigning inaugural Mister Cultured Guyana, who proudly carried not only his title and the franchise but also the spirit and pride of Guyana as he took part in this landmark event. His participation symbolized the strength of our cultural ambassadors and the deepening bonds of friendship between Guyana and Brazil.

This milestone is more than just a race—it’s about representation, cultural exchange, and building bridges through shared experiences.
