Caribbean Community Youth Ambassadors

Caribbean Community Youth Ambassadors Increasing youth participation in regional integration and development. We welcome you to the Caribbean Community Youth Ambassadors’ page.

We are a regional network of young Caribbean nationals who advocate on behalf of an share information with young people about regional priorities. We receive our mandate from the CARICOM (The Caribbean Community) Heads of Government, the mechanism set up by the Community for deepening levels of youth participation and partnership in regional integration, and in broad social and economic developmen

t processes. We perform a dual role, addressing youth issues at the national level and bringing national issues to the attention of the Region’s policy makers and planners. The CARICOM Secretariat, with support from partners working in human development, equip the Corps of CARICOM Youth Ambassadors with appropriate information knowledge, skills, attitudes and resources, and provide spaces and opportunities for us to participate in decision making and programme/policy development at the regional level. The Programme is coordinated by the CARICOM Secretariat; facilitated at the national level by Departments responsible for Youth Affairs; and implemented through multiple networking and collaborative relationships with stakeholders such as private-public sector agencies, development partners, National Youth Councils/organisations and retired CARICOM Youth Ambassadors. This is a space specifically created to give you, the youth of the region, a forum for the exchange of ideas, and the sharing of information about our work in helping to ensure a bright future for the region.

CARICOM Youth Ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago,Luke James-Trim , recently led an educational session for a group of university students from Tobago, where he educated them on the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME)and the opportunities it presents them as future University Graduates .

The event, organized by the Tobago Students’ Association (TABSATT), an NGO closely aligned with James-Trim’s advocacy for regional integration, aimed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills. The organization also collaborated with the Tobago Youth Council for this initiative.

In addition to discussing the CSME, the session covered crucial topics such as mental health, sexual health, and financial management. These discussions were part of a broader effort to prepare university students for the challenges they may face, both academically and personally.

James-Trim expressed gratitude to the CARICOM Secretariat for the comprehensive training he received during a workshop in July 2024. “The knowledge I gained from the Secretariat’s efforts has empowered me to pass it on to other young people, creating a domino effect that can continue to benefit our region,” he said.
