Rosewood Foundation Guyana

Rosewood Foundation Guyana We provide these animals with care and temporary homes through our foster providers until we can place them into their permanent homes.

Rosewood Foundation Guyana is a registered non-profit, volunteer-based animal welfare organization that advocates for the protection of animals through education, rescue and care. By working with a network of volunteer advocates, foster caregivers, local veterinarians and other animal advocacy groups, Rosewood Foundation Guyana is able to rescue countless animals every year. We also serve as a res

ource to our communities by providing information on pet ownership, our spay/neuter programs and positive behavior training. We believe that no animal should be mistreated and are working assiduously to prevent uncontrolled breeding of the animal population and to ensure a cruelty free society for all animals. Rosewood Foundation Guyana was founded in 2017 by two animal advocates. Their desire to create a safe and loving society for animals served as motivation to embark on the journey of educating the general populace on various animal welfare issues, spaying, neutering and animal fostering. The number of persons in the organization soon grew after a few young professionals indicated their interest in partnering in support of its objectives. Rosewood Foundation Guyana is a young organization; however, we believe that collectively we have the experience, diversity and commitment to allow us to grow. While we are mindful of not overextending ourselves, we are looking forward to expanding in the future as resources allow. Our Vision
To inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals enjoy, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:
1. Freedom from hunger and thirst
2. Freedom from pain, injury or disease
3. Freedom from fear and distress
4. Freedom from discomfort
5. Freedom to express normal behaviour

Our Mission
➢ To protect and enhance the quality of life for animals in Guyana.
➢ To rehabilitate and re-home animals in need.
➢ To educate the public about the benefits of spaying and neutering.
➢ To prevent cruelty and uncontrolled breeding of the animal population.
➢ To encourage kindness and consideration towards animals.
➢ To maintain and protect animals in their natural habitats.

Goodnight from our latest rescue. He joined our little family just today after being found by a kind family in Diamond. Since they can't commit to bottle feeding him because of their schedules, he was handed over to Donna Lam who will be fostering him until he's old enough to be adopted. He needs to be fed every couple of hours, and boy does he have a big boy appetite!
What do you think we should call him?

Recently, a kind Cuban lady reached out to us for help with spaying her rescued animals. Although the language barrier presented a challenge, compassion speaks a universal language, and together we were able to make it happen.

A heartfelt thank you to NB Veterinary Services for the professional care provided and for going the extra mile to help her feel comfortable and understood. The staff's willingness to communicate with her in Spanish made a world of difference and helped put her at ease throughout the process since this was the first time she was having a spay done. Three cats were spayed for her, free of cost by the foundation. The others will be done next week. They are all doing well.

We are grateful for veterinary partners who understand that kindness and empathy are just as important as medical care. ❤️

Our fosters get only the best care.
And since these 9 day old kittens are the youngest now in our care, we thought they deserved something extra special.
Thank you to Riley's Pet Treats for their donation of the Huggie Kitty! This plush toy is specially designed for newborns. It purrs, has a heartbeat and warms them so they feel so much more secure and relaxed, as if they're with mom!
Kindly check out Riley's Pet Treats for the nicest treats and toys for your animals. They also stock cat trees and towers because they know some of us go all out for our babies!

If you care, distance and effort don’t matter when it comes to saving a life. ❤️🐾

Sarah Hack and Maryam Nadeena Bacchus found these helpless kittens on a runway in Region 1. They immediately did everything they could to keep them safe, reaching out tirelessly until they got in touch with us. The kittens were transported via air to Georgetown because when dealing with newborns, time is of the essence. Thanks to their quick thinking, the kittens are now safely in the care of Donna Lam and doing absolutely great! 🐱✨We want to send a massive thank you to everyone involved in this rescue, and a special shoutout to Dr. Nardeo Bassoodeo and team for accommodating them after hours to provide a thorough health check.

It truly takes a village! 🙏🩺

Are your pets' up-to-date on their vaccination?

Not sure? Then contact your veterinarian to find out.

Keeping them up to date with vaccination means protecting them against deadly diseases.

Adult cats are overlooked in shelters and foster homes because, well, they’re not cute little kittens. But adult cats actually make better pets for families with children or existing pets.

Kittens are adorable, no doubt, but they are also a lot of work and responsibility.
And let’s face it, they’re not for everyone.

For a person who wants an easy going pet with minimal effort, a cat is definitely a step in the right direction! Check out these amazing benefits of adopting an adult cat! 🐾❤
