Service is not always about going far; sometimes, it begins close to home.

Over the last two Saturdays, in honour of our anniversary celebrations, our Environmental Committee had the pleasure of gathering at the Guyana Red Cross Building to power wash the fence.

As our regular meeting venue, we were happy to take time, do a bit of service in-house and give back to a space that has welcomed us throughout the year.

And what better way to start and close our anniversary celebrations than by caring for a place that has been a part of our journey from the very beginning.

Starting the Day with Service!

On Friday, August 28, 2026, in keeping with our anniversary celebrations, our Lions answered the call to service and started the day with a visit to the Millicent Greaves Senior Citizens Home, where they served a sunrise breakfast to the seniors.

Over a warm and nutritious meal, smiles and fellowship, brought a simple yet meaningful start to the day.

Thank you to the seniors and staff for welcoming us so warmly. It was a pleasure to share breakfast with you.

Inaugural Anniversary Symposium

What an afternoon!

Inspiring words, thought-provoking questions and meaningful conversations filled the Guyana Red Cross Building on Thursday, August 27, as the Lions Club of Georgetown hosted its Inaugural Anniversary Symposium in celebration of 66 years of service.

Held under the theme “Rooted in Service, Growing Stronger Together: The Future of Lionism through Unity and Service,” the symposium brought together Lions, Leos and prospective members for an engaging afternoon featuring inspiring words from PCC Lion Denise Bentinck; Lion Donna Chapman; PDG Lion Sean Noel; and PCC Lion Dr. Ivor English, who shared valuable perspectives on leadership, unity, innovation and sustainable service.

We were also honoured to have District Governor Lion Blossom Manbodh Samuels share remarks as her first official duty as District Governor.

A key reflection from the afternoon was the importance of looking beyond the present and thinking about the impact we, as Lions want to create tomorrow.

As we celebrate 66 years of service, the conversation has only just begun. Together, we look forward to shaping the years ahead with even greater service and community impact.

A heartfelt thank you to our exceptional speakers, District Governor and everyone who joined us.Your presence made this a truly memorable occasion.

New Lions keep traditions alive!

Yesterday, during our “Look good, feel good” manicure activity, our new Lions had the joy of giving back at the Millicent Greaves Senior Citizens Home.

As part of our anniversary week tradition, our newest members came together to make a meaningful difference in our community.

This year, Ln Nicole McLean, Ln Germene Stewart, Ln John Sutton, Ln Lynette Sutton, Ln Tawanna McGarrell, Ln Amanda Sullivan and Prospect Brandee Douglas proudly donated a new 53-inch television, along with cleaning and washing supplies needed at the home.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to give back to a place that holds such a special place in the heart of the Lions Club of Georgetown.

Thank you, Millicent Greaves Senior Citizens Home, for always welcoming us so warmly.

Serving with heart!

As Lions, we celebrate through joyful service!

After our Fitness Walk earlier today, the energy continued as we proceeded to the Millicent Greaves Senior Citizens Home for our “Look Good, Feel Good” manicure activity.

Twelve wonderful ladies were treated to a little pampering, with manicures and hair-care, while the four gentlemen enjoyed trims and manicures.

With smiles, laughter and good company all around, it was a beautiful way to continue the day, sharing joy and giving back.

Special thanks to Ln Shondelle Gray from the Lions Club of Bel Air for sharing your talents. It was a pleasure to serve with you.

Follow along with us as we continue to celebrate our 66th anniversary with fellowship, fun and service at the heart of it all.

Celebrating Our 66th Anniversary Through Service to Youth!

Earlier this afternoon, our Youth and Education Committee, had the pleasure of donating twenty-five (25) backpacks filled with back-to-school essentials to Ms. Sherida Jerry, Headmistress of Eteringbang Primary School, to support students in need.

This donation will help to ease the back-to-school burden for students and provide them with some necessary personal items as they prepare for the new school year ahead.

As we continue our Anniversary Week celebrations, stay connected with us and keep checking our page as we share more moments from this special milestone.

“When we serve others, we not only make a difference, but experience the true joy of service.”

We Serve.
