Today marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism in Guyana through the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security. Starting on November 25th — the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, this movement calls on everyone to stand together, raise awareness, and take action to end violence against women and girls.
The 16 Days of Activism shines a light on the many forms of violence women and girls continue to face — including domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, harassment, child marriage, and emotional and financial abuse. It is a reminder that protection, justice, and empowerment are human rights, not privileges.
As the Bishop’s High School Interact Club, we stand in solidarity with survivors, advocates, and organizations working tirelessly to create safer communities. Through our Orange Line of Support Project, we aim to spread awareness, strengthen education, and create spaces where students can learn, support, and take meaningful action.
Let’s unite, speak up, and commit to building a world where women and girls can live free from violence, not just for 16 days, but every day.
