The Miss World Head-to-Head Challenge is here, and Miss World Guyana 2026, Kelcia Marie Nelson, takes her place among the women of the world with an opportunity to speak, to be heard and to share the purpose she carried with her from Guyana to Vietnam.

In conversation with the reigning Mister World, Daniel Mejia, our reigning Miss World Guyana 2026, Kelcia Nelson shared a little more of the woman behind the sash. She spoke candidly about fear showing up as doubt while publishing Her First Lesson, and how courage became the decision to keep moving forward despite it. She also shared her love for Guyana and the unexpected sense of home she has found in Vietnam, connecting deeply with the pride the Vietnamese people hold for their culture, heritage and history. Two nations, distinct in their stories, yet beautifully connected by the pride of knowing who they are. 🇬🇾🇻🇳

𝐆𝐄𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐎𝐖𝐍, 𝐆𝐔𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐀 — 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟑𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: Miss World Guyana 2026, Kelcia Nelson, has left Guyana as she begins the final phase of her preparation journey ahead of representing the nation at the 75th Anniversary Edition of the Miss World Festival in Vietnam.

Nelson recently completed the Guyana leg of her preparations, which included intensive training, public engagements, advocacy activities and continued development of her Beauty With a Purpose initiative. She will now undertake a final period of specialised training under the guidance of Luciel before travelling to Vietnam for the international competition.

The Miss World Festival will officially begin with the arrival of delegates in Hanoi on August 9, 2026. More than 120 representatives from across the world are expected to participate in a month-long programme of cultural activities, challenges, advocacy engagements and international events. The festival will conclude with the Miss World Final in Nha Trang on September 5, 2026.

Throughout her preparation in Guyana, Nelson has continued to advance her Beauty With a Purpose project, Her First Lesson: The Prevention Blueprint, which focuses on equipping adolescent girls with knowledge and practical tools relating to economic literacy, trafficking prevention and digital safety.

Her departure marks an important milestone in a journey grounded in national representation, service, discipline and purpose. Nelson will carry the Golden Arrowhead and the support of the Guyanese people as she shares Guyana’s culture, values and commitment to meaningful social impact on the international stage.

The Miss World Guyana Organization, under Majesty Talent Management Inc., is deeply saddened by the tragic capsizing of the MV Barima and the devastating loss it has brought to families and communities across our nation.

Our hearts are with the families who have lost loved ones, those who continue to await news of those still missing, the survivors, and the brave rescue teams working tirelessly under difficult circumstances. During moments like these, we are reminded of the importance of compassion, unity, and standing together as one people.

As an organisation committed to service the well-being of our communities, we join the nation in mourning this heartbreaking tragedy. We pray for strength, comfort, and peace to every grieving family and protection to those continuing the search and rescue efforts.

May the souls of those who have passed rest in eternal peace, and may hope remain with every family affected.

Yesterday, Miss World Guyana 2026, Kelcia Nelson, paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Sonia Parag, Minister of Education.

During the meeting, Kelcia shared her journey to the Miss World Guyana crown and introduced her Beauty With A Purpose project, Her First Lesson. The initiative is focused on empowering adolescent girls by equipping them with the confidence, knowledge and life skills to recognise their worth, build healthy relationships and make informed decisions for their future.

Minister Parag commended the initiative for its meaningful impact and its alignment with the Ministry’s commitment to the holistic development of Guyana’s young people. She also expressed the Ministry of Education’s willingness to collaborate with Miss World Guyana in an appropriate capacity to support the project’s objectives.

The Miss World Guyana Organisation is grateful for the warm reception and looks forward to working alongside the Ministry of Education to create meaningful opportunities that empower and inspire the next generation.
