Last Friday, the St. Stanislaus College Scout Group (Troop 25) held its first Friday scout meeting and it was a highly productive one. Scouts kicked things off with physical exercises and laps around the compound, building energy and teamwork. They then moved into knot-tying relay races, combining skill and friendly competition. Afterward, the older scouts focused on pioneering activities, sharpening their practical scouting techniques. The session concluded with all sections coming together to plan their upcoming activity calendar for the new cycle. A great start to the term!

The Prime Patrol from St. Stanislaus College Scout Group spent the last Saturday volunteering at Uncle Eddie’s Elderly Home, putting in work to help improve the surroundings for the residents.

They painted, cleaned windows, mopped floors, cleared debris, and reorganised different areas of the home. It was a hands-on effort, and their time and commitment made a noticeable difference.

Special thanks to the Patrol for stepping up and giving back to the community in such a practical and meaningful way.

Saints Scouts just concluded their Annual Christmas Camp at the Fungs Retreat, Madewini. With about 90 members, we got to practice traditional camping in the best environment, the natural outdoors. The children were able to strengthen their team building skills, complete a few requirements for specific proficiency badges, made more memorable moments at our usual campfire, visited by our World Champion Rosanna Fung, had a mini Rave session thanks to Tariq Dakhil, and became stronger as the Saints’ Scout family. Special thank you to all our usual sponsors, especially Guyoil, Bounty Farms, Bakewell, Mark Afonso and family. An excellent way to end 2025!

This past weekend, Troop #25 from the St. Stanislaus College Scout Group returned from an inspiring 116th Anniversary National Camp, an event dedicated to fostering youth leadership, service, and unity.

The camp was a whirlwind of engaging activities, challenging our scouts both mentally and physically. From Eco-Games and intense robotics competitions to the classic tug-of-war and the backwoodsman cooking challenge, there was no shortage of opportunities for growth and teamwork.

We were honored by visits from several distinguished figures who shared their wisdom. Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, delivered a powerful leadership talk, inspiring scouts with the shared values of discipline, character, and perseverance. The opening ceremony was also graced by officials including Minister Steven Jacobs and Colonel Sheldon Howell.

Adding to the special occasion, we were thrilled by visits from our own Saints family. Former Group Scout Leader Garry Mendonca and his son, Gavin Mendonca (Creative Director at Creole Rock), joined us. Gavin shared his musical talents around the campfire, while Garry offered valuable constructive insights for the future of Scouting and commended our current Group Scout Leader, Mr. Laurence Fung.

We were also incredibly motivated by Rosanna Fung, a former Saints scout of over a decade, who made history by becoming Guyana's first World Champion at the IFBB World Championship. She shared powerful insights on dedication and achieving one's goals, serving as a true inspiration to our scouts.

As Chief Commissioner Yonnick David noted, these interactions with senior leaders and role models are invaluable. This National Camp was more than a celebration; it was a vital platform for building lifelong skills in problem-solving, pioneering, and team-building, all while strengthening friendships across Guyana.

Here's to 116 years of building discipline, strong character, and a spirit of service!

The St. Stanislaus College Scout Group (Troop 25) has had a productive and exciting cycle so far. Our regular Friday scout meetings, combined with a variety of activities, have been key in shaping well-rounded scouts and adults. The Eagles and Doves patrols had a successful self-defence training session at the National Park. The turnout was great, and everyone had high spirits throughout. What stood out was the agility and focus the girls displayed — they were especially nimble during the training, outperforming the guys in some areas, which was both surprising and impressive.

Back at base, the troop came together for a full Scout Room clean-up. We sorted tarps into fly sheets and ground sheets, reorganized cooking supplies and utensils into chests, and made sure everything was in its place. A clean space always leads to a clearer mind and smoother activities ahead.

Meanwhile, the Hawks patrol got creative with a bleach-stencil project, designing their own activity wear. It was a fun and productive session, sparking everyone’s creative side and bringing the group closer. Finally, the Vultures patrol held their first official activity on Saturday at Saints, diving into investiture training and brushing up on basic knots. It’s always great to see the younger scouts learning the ropes and connecting with the history of scouting.

It’s been a time full of growth, teamwork, and learning. Well done to everyone involved — let’s keep pushing forward!

The St. Stanislaus College Scout Group – Troop 25 made their presence felt at the St. Stanislaus College Orientation, bringing Scouting spirit, skills, and creativity to the campus. Our scouts worked hard to set up a mini model campsite, showcasing the true essence of outdoor life. Alongside it, we highlighted the Scouting journey through displays of awards, detailed knot boards, and impressive pioneering models—all showing what it really means to learn by doing.

One of the highlights came when Amelia Hassan stepped forward to deliver a presentation on scouting. With confidence and energy, she shared a captivating snapshot of Troop 25’s history, the mission of Scouting, and the different sections that shape our movement. Her words left the audience inspired and reminded everyone that Scouting isn’t just an activity—it’s a way of life.

Events like these highlight not just individual talent, but the teamwork, dedication, and unity that make Troop 25 so special. Together, we continue to build skills, serve our community, and grow as the next generation of leaders.

What a week! Summer Camp 2025 was everything we hoped for and more. A powerful mix of leadership, resilience, laughter, and lifelong memories. We explored, built, learned, led, stumbled, rose, and came together in a way that reminded us exactly what it means to wear the Troop 25 scarf.

Every challenge pushed us beyond our comfort zones. Every shared meal, team task, and fireside activity brought us closer. Whether it was mastering new survival skills, leading with confidence, or just learning to listen and support one another. Each moment shaped us into stronger scouts and better people.

We’re beyond thankful to the sponsors who believed in our journey and made this camp possible. A heartfelt thank you to Bakewell, Enet, Bumper to Bumper, Bounty Farms, Guyoil, Dynas, Guyoil, Sterling Products, Jafasa Farm, Col. Hussain, Col. Howell, and Mr. Vishaul Persaud. Your generosity gave us the tools, space, and opportunity to grow, and we carried that support with pride every day.

We leave camp changed. More capable, more connected, and more committed to what Troop 25 stands for. This was more than a camp. It was a launchpad for future leaders.
