PPP/C Government Fully Committed to the Establishment and Development of the Country’s H**p Industry

Georgetown, Guyana – Guyana H**p Industries Co Inc (GHI) Vice President Michael D. Kirton and Guyana H**pAir International Director Dennis Shepperd held a very successful meeting yesterday with Vice President Dr. Bharat Jagdeo and Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha.

The meeting confirmed the PPP/C Government’s full commitment to the establishment and development of Guyana’s h**p industry.

Discussions centered on expediting licensing, seed importation, land preparation, and technical support to move farmers from readiness to cultivation.

“The PPP/C Government is fully committed,” Kirton stated. “Both Vice President Jagdeo and Minister Mustapha made it clear that h**p is part of the national development agenda. We are now focused on implementation.”

Shepperd said the engagement was timely, with farmers in the Upper Corentyne, Berbice River, Mara, Sandvoort, West Canje, and along the Ituni Road in Region Ten eager to plant.

“Yesterday’s meeting was informative and encouraging,” Shepperd added. “We have the political will. Now we work together to get h**p in the ground.”

GHI and Guyana H**pAir International will continue collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Guyana H**p Authority to roll out the industry.

Georgetown, Guyana – Guyana H**p Industries Co Inc (GHI) extends warm Mother’s Day greetings to all mothers across Guyana, especially those in our farming communities.

“This Mother’s Day, we honor the mothers of the Upper Corentyne, Berbice River, Mara, Sandvoort, West Canje, and along the Ituni Road in Region Ten,” Kirton stated. “Many of you are ready to plant h**p to support your families and communities. Your strength drives national development.”

GHI reaffirmed its commitment to work with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Guyana H**p Authority to ensure mothers and families can access the economic opportunities h**p provides.

H**p in Lockdown in Guyana: Farmers Ready to Plant

Georgetown, Guyana – Despite legislation and the establishment of the Guyana H**p Authority, h**p remains in lockdown across the country.

Guyana H**p Industries Co Inc (GHI) reports that farmers on the Upper Corentyne, Berbice River, Mara, Sandvoort, and in Region 10 along the Ituni Road are ready to plant but cannot move forward.

“Everything is in place except the green light,” said GHI Vice President Michael D. Kirton. “The law is passed, the Authority is set up, and the farmers are waiting. Yet h**p production is still in lockdown.”

GHI is calling on the Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, and Chairman of the Guyana H**p Authority, Dhaneswar Deonarine, to urgently address delays in licensing, seed certification, and land access.

Denis Shepperd, Director of Guyana H**pAir International, added that farmers in Sandvoort, West Canje specifically need immediate help to clear farmlands and fix dams and canals before planting can begin.
