On his final attempt, Guyana's Lloyd McCurdy produced a superb leap of 16.02m to secure 5th place in a highly competitive Men's Triple Jump Final at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

A determined finish from the young Guyanese, showcasing his talent, resilience, and ability to deliver under pressure. Another encouraging performance as he continues to establish himself among the region's top triple jumpers.

🥊🇬🇾 GUYANA'S BOXERS BOW OUT AFTER GUTSY QUARTERFINAL EFFORTS 🇬🇾🥊

Guyana's boxing campaign at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games came to an end after Desmond Amsterdam, Terron Wintz, and Colin Lewis all suffered quarterfinal defeats, narrowly missing out on podium finishes.

The trio displayed tremendous courage, determination, and heart against high-quality opposition, representing Guyana with pride throughout the competition.

A special mention goes to Colin Lewis, whose narrow 3-2 split decision loss to Suriname's Domelzo Schet left many believing he had done enough to earn the victory. It was a fiercely contested bout that could easily have gone either way and one that sparked plenty of debate.

While the medals slipped away this time, the performances of all three boxers demonstrated the progress being made by Guyana's boxing programme. Every international contest provides invaluable experience, and these athletes have shown they have the talent and commitment to compete at the highest regional level.

🥈🇬🇾 SILVER FOR GUYANA'S SQUASH QUEENS! 🇬🇾🥈

What an outstanding achievement for Guyana! Ashley Khalil and Mary Fung-A-Fatt have captured a well-deserved Silver Medal in the Women's Doubles at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, adding another podium finish to Team Guyana's growing medal tally.

The Guyanese duo displayed remarkable determination, composure, and teamwork throughout the competition, producing a series of outstanding performances against some of the region's strongest pairs.

🔥 Quarterfinals – Statement Victory
Khalil and Fung-A-Fatt announced themselves as genuine medal contenders with a commanding 2-0 victory over the Dominican Republic's Estelle Rodriguez and Bermelyn Peña. Their aggressive play, disciplined shot-making, and excellent court coverage proved too much for the home pair as Guyana advanced confidently to the semifinals.

💪 Semifinals – Redemption in Style
In one of the performances of the tournament, the Guyanese pair produced a magnificent 2-0 upset over Guatemala's top-seeded duo, Tabita Gaitan and Darlyn Sandoval. It was a composed and fearless display that showcased the tremendous progress of Guyana squash. The victory not only secured a place in the gold medal match but also guaranteed Guyana another medal at the Games.

🥈 Final – Proud Silver Medalists
The Guyanese pair battled courageously in the championship match but went down 0-2 to Colombia's experienced sisters Laura and Paula Tovar, settling for an impressive Silver Medal. While the gold narrowly escaped them, Ashley and Mary can hold their heads high after an exceptional campaign that demonstrated resilience, skill, and the fighting spirit that defines Team Guyana.

Guyana's Kirsten Gomes and Jason-Ray Khalil delivered a tremendous performance to capture the Bronze Medal in the Mixed Doubles competition at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, adding yet another medal to Guyana's growing tally in Santo Domingo.

After experiencing some challenging results in the singles competition, the Guyanese squash team responded with outstanding resilience and determination. They regrouped impressively in the doubles events, demonstrating the character, fighting spirit, and quality that have become hallmarks of Team Guyana.

🔥 Quarterfinals – Dominant Display
Gomes and Khalil booked their place in the semifinals with an emphatic 2-0 victory over Bermuda's Rachel Barnes and Micah Franklin. Playing with confidence and attacking intent, the Guyanese pair controlled the match from start to finish through disciplined court coverage, intelligent shot selection, and excellent teamwork.

💪 Semifinals – Battled the Eventual Champions
In the semifinal, Guyana faced the formidable Mexican duo of Alfredo Avila and Luz Lopez. Despite a determined effort, Gomes and Khalil were defeated 2-0 by the experienced pair, who went on to contest the gold medal match.

🇬🇾 INCE DUO JUST MISS OUT ON MEN'S DOUBLES MEDAL 🇬🇾

Guyana's Daniel Ince and Samuel Ince-Carvalhal produced a spirited campaign in the Men's Doubles at the 2026 CAC Games, narrowly missing out on a place on the podium.

The Guyanese pair opened strongly with a commanding 2-0 victory over Bermuda's Joseph Chapman and Daniel Henderson to advance confidently to the quarterfinals.

Facing the higher-ranked Venezuelan duo of Juan Vargas and Matias Knudsen, Daniel and Samuel fought hard but were defeated 2-0, bringing their impressive run to an end.

While they fell just short of the medals, the duo demonstrated determination, resilience, and the promise of Guyana's rising squash programme. Their performances throughout the tournament are another positive step forward for Guyanese squash on the regional stage.

🇬🇾 GUYANA'S YOUNG ATHLETICS TEAM SHOWS PROMISE AT THE CAC GAMES 🇬🇾

With an exceptionally demanding international calendar that included the Commonwealth Games, World Junior Athletics Championships, and the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, while also preparing for the Junior Olympics and South American Games in September, Guyana fielded a predominantly developmental athletics team at the CAC Games.

The squad, comprising Juvonna Cornette, Anisha Gibbons, Deshana Skeete, Charissa December, Lloyd McCurdy, and Tonya Rawlins, under the guidance of Team Official Junior Cornette, featured a promising blend of talented junior athletes and experienced competitors. Competing against many of the region's best, the team gained invaluable international experience while delivering performances that augur well for the future of Guyana athletics.

👏 Notable Performances
• Anisha Gibbons placed 9th in the Women's Javelin with a throw of 44.50m.
• Charissa December advanced to the semifinals of the Women's 400m Hurdles, finishing 4th in Semifinal 2 with a time of 1:06.06.
• Juvonna Cornette reached the Women's 100m semifinals, clocking 12.01 seconds.
• Tonya Rawlins also progressed to the Women's 100m semifinals, recording 12.55 seconds.
• Deshana Skeete advanced to the semifinal round, continuing her steady development on the international stage.
• Lloyd McCurdy delivered an encouraging performance in the Men's Triple Jump, gaining valuable championship experience.

These performances represent another positive step in Guyana's long-term athlete development pathway. The experience gained at this level will prove invaluable as these young athletes continue their preparations for the Junior Olympics, South American Games, and ultimately future Commonwealth, Pan American, and Olympic Games.

The future of Guyana athletics is bright, and this young team has every reason to be proud of its efforts and progress.

🏓🇬🇾 THE FIGHT CONTINUES FOR TEAM GUYANA! 🇬🇾

The journey at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games has been a challenging one for Team Guyana, but our athletes have continued to display the resilience, determination, and fighting spirit that define true champions.

Our men's team, which earned its place at these Games earlier this year, fielded a young transitioning squad led by multiple Caribbean champion Shemar Britton, alongside Niran Bissu, Elishaba Johnson, and Malachi Moore. Despite spirited efforts, Guyana came up short against Guatemala and the Dominican Republic in the team competition.

In the women's singles, Chelsea Edghill produced an excellent opening performance, defeating Samirah Muñoz 4-0 to advance to the Round of 32 before meeting one of the world's best, Puerto Rico's Adriana Díaz.

National champion Jazmine Billingy also impressed against Puerto Rico's Kristal Meléndez. While the result ended 4-0, Jazmine pushed her experienced opponent in several closely contested games, underlining her tremendous potential for the future.

In the men's singles, Shemar Britton took the opening game against Dario Arce before eventually falling 4-1. Elishaba Johnson, Malachi Moore, and Niran Bissu also battled courageously against higher-ranked opponents, gaining invaluable experience on one of the region's biggest stages.

The team's attention now turns to the Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, where they will be looking to finish the Games on a strong note.

🥇 Success is measured by more than medals. It is found in the courage to compete, the determination to improve, the resilience to overcome setbacks, and the pride of representing Guyana with honour.

🏀🇬🇾 GUYANA WOMEN'S 3×3 TEAM FINISHES 6TH AT THE CAC GAMES! 🇬🇾

From 12th seed to an impressive 6th-place finish, Guyana's Women's 3×3 Basketball Team exceeded expectations at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, delivering a campaign filled with determination, grit, and heart.

The narrow 15–14 quarterfinal loss to Mexico proved to be the difference between a place on the podium and a sixth-place finish—a reminder of just how fine the margins are at this level of competition.

While medals are the ultimate goal, they are not the only measure of success. This team demonstrated tremendous growth, resilience, commitment, and an unwavering fighting spirit throughout the tournament. Even after difficult setbacks, they continued to compete with pride, courage, and belief, never allowing disappointment to define them.

Their performances showcased the tremendous talent and potential of women's basketball in Guyana and provided invaluable experience as they continue their journey on the international stage.

Congratulations to Ruth Adams, Anaya Clemons, DeAngelique Waithe, Jamaicy Ogle, Head Coach Willon Cameron, and Manager Jermaine Slater on an outstanding campaign.

🥊🇬🇾 COLIN LEWIS JOINS GUYANA'S QUARTERFINAL CHARGE! 🇬🇾
Guyana's Colin Lewis punched his way into the CAC Games Quarterfinals with an impressive 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Peter Murray of Barbados in the Men's 65kg division.
Lewis' commanding performance capped another outstanding day for Team Guyana Boxing, with all three Guyanese boxers advancing to the Quarterfinals, moving one step closer to the podium. The Guyanese boxing trio will be in action today in quarterfinals action.
