Guyana is set to host the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers (also known as the FIBA Men’s Caribbean Championship) from July 8–12, 2026 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
This staging marks a historic return, as it will be the first time in over 30 years that Guyana hosts this prestigious regional basketball competition.

Our young chess stars demonstrated great adaptability, resilience, and composure, gaining invaluable international experience against strong regional competition.

Leading the effort were Sachin Pitamber (CM), Anthony Drayton (FM, Coach), and Italy Ton-Chung, all of whom contributed to this historic first appearance on the South American stage.

This debut lays a strong foundation for the continued growth and future competitiveness of chess in Guyana.

Guyana Drawn in Group B for FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2029 CBC Pre-Qualifiers

Guyana’s National Women’s Basketball Team has been drawn in Group B alongside the United States Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and El Salvador for the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2029 CBC Pre-Qualifiers.

The Guyana team, featuring the talented Ramlall trio — including Anisha Ramlall — along with overseas-based professional Joy Adams and other key players, will represent Guyana in its quest to bring regional honours.

The AmeriCup pathway forms part of the wider qualification journey toward international and Olympic-level competition.
