Who we are? Volunteer Youth Corps Inc. is a voluntary, non-government and not-for–profit company who dedicate their time, talents and energy towards the education, social and economic advancement of young people. Where we came from? The organization was form by a 9-member group of youth fresh out of High school and had a desire to contribute to the development of Guyana’s health sector. During VYC’s earlier years, the organization main programs surrounded non-medical support to hospitalized persons, drug reduction, HIV prevention and reduction and developing the institutional capacity of workplaces and civil society organizations working in health
Structure The daily operations fall under the mandate of staff and Volunteers/Mentors. The company is governed by a Board of Directors. The board comprised of a strong multi-disciplinary team of professionals with an established track-record in their respective field of expertise. What are we about? Today, the organisation services surround education and economic development of youth year-round. Programs include: After-school Interactive Math, Science and Robotics program which focuses on STEM education in High schools; Career Guidance program designed for grades 9-11 students and Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring program which supports primary school children realizing their true potential.
In addition, the organisation provides 2-years CSEC program, employment training and job placement services for early school leavers not given a second chance.
