Ramadan Mubarak from Guyana Stands With Palestine!
In October 2023, Guyana Stands With Palestine (GSWP) was created collectively by Muslim students and youth from universities across Guyana. But this movement is bigger than us, it is the collective voice of majority Muslim in our country who came together for our brothers and sisters in Palestine like never before. From every masjid, every university, every gathering, and every home, we stood as one ummah, refusing to be silent in the face of oppression.
We are deeply grateful to the Muslim leaders of Guyana who continue to speak up for Palestine, guide us as youth, and remind our communities of our duty towards the oppressed. We notice. We appreciate. And we will always stand with those who stand for justice.
As Muslim students, we have been taught by our imams in Guyana the powerful hadith of the Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί:
βWhoever sees an injustice, let him change it with his hands. If he cannot, then with his tongue. And if he cannot, then with his heart and that is the weakest of faith.β (Sahih Muslim 49)
We, as the youth of Guyana, refuse to stand by in silence. We see the genocide in Gaza. We hear the cries of the children. We feel the pain of the mothers. And we will not stop speaking, standing, and praying for them. We are one.
This Ramadan, as we fast and pray, let us remember those who are fasting under bombardment, those who break their fast in the rubble of their homes, those who have lost everything yet still say Alhamdulillah.
Pray for them. Pray for Palestine. Pray for Sudan, for Congo, for every oppressed nation (alhamdulillah Syria is free). This is a month of mercy, a time when Allah answers duas, so letβs raise our hands and ask for the freedom of Al-Aqsa, for the victory of the oppressed, and for justice in this world.
We are the Muslim youth of Guyana. We are students, we are the next generation, we are standing for Justice, and we are standing for Palestine.
