Young Pioneers was founded in 2013 by Shivanie Rampersaud. It is a Nongovernmental Organisation that focuses on Youth Development and charitable work. It was established with the aim of getting youths involved in community work and to aid those in need. It targets youths across the country who shares this passion and are willing to decide their time to make a difference. It targets young individua
ls and exposes them to leadership skills and training while getting them involved in community and charitable projects. It provides a platform for them to unlock their full potential and prepare to enter the adult world. Our members are segmented into groups in their various districts. There are currently three groups, namely East Coast Demerara-Georgetown, West Bank- West Coast Demerara and West Berbice Corentyne. Each group comprises a leader which is referred to as the Head Pioneer, while the rest of the members are simply referred to as Pioneers. The founder of the Organisation, Ms. Rampersaud is also the Director of the Organisation. Activities are usually planned and directed by her, while the ex*****on is done by the groups through guidance from the Head Pioneers and herself. Further,Young Pioneers believes that there should be a balance of humanity and individuality in one's life. It is important to note that the organisation stands firmly for ethnic diversity and individuality. This is reflected in the our logo. The circle of hands in various colours represents the uniting of different individuals with different cultures, beliefs and backgrounds, These individuals unite for a greater Good and works towards YP's Motto "Creating a better tomorrow." Over the past years, Young Pioneers have organised and executed a number of activities including toy drives, book drives, outreaches, food and clothing distributions, funds for medical assistance, health and other social campaigns, visits to old age homes and Orphanages among others. Additionally, members of Young Pioneers also benefits from development opportunities including networking, mentorship programmes and exposure to overseas organisations and training opportunities.
