Shell Beach Protected Area Delineation Process was managed by Michelle Kalamandeen (Protected Area Manager), Patricia Fredericks (Technical Assistant), Romeo DeFreitas (Sea Turtle Coordinator) and board members, Dr Raquel Thomas and Maj Gen. Joe Singh in 2009-2010. After working with surrounding communities and continued advocacy, the Shell Beach Protected Area was declared by the Government of Guyana in 2011. At this point, the Protected Area Commission (PAC) commenced the management planning process for integration of the Shell Beach Protected Area under their management.
