๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐ - A major investment of US$400,000 (more than GY$80 million) is being channelled into the transformation of a multipurpose community facility at Cummings Park (Sophia), Georgetown through a collaborative public-private partnership involving the Ministry of HousingโCentral Housing and Planning Authority, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, and SBM Offshore Guyana.
Earlier today, Chief Executive Officer of CH&PA, Dr. Martin Pertab, conducted a joint visit to the project site with Country Manager of SBM Offshore, Mr. Martin Cheong.
Dr. Pertab noted that the upgrades will represent a significant transformation compared with the previous condition of the facility, explaining that the investment will greatly enhance the functionality and usability of the space while creating opportunities for recreation, youth engagement, and social development for residents of Sophia.
He further indicated that CH&PA will play a key role in improving both the aesthetics and overall layout of the facility, with discussions ongoing among partners to determine how additional contributions can further advance the groundโs development.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to improve community facilities across Guyana and represents a broader push to strengthen collaboration between government and private stakeholders.

NB: Present for the NGO NCC Inc was Executive Director Ms.Simone sills. The partnership between NGO NCC and SMB Offshore was birthed out of shared goals to respond to community needs. More specifically, the after school literacy and numeracy program sponsored by SBM Offshore Guyana.
The CH&PA have supported this initiative through the alignment of administrative functions between partners and will continue to assist with upkeep and facilitation of responsible Community use. This collaborative initiative is a model of positive engagement between community, civil society, public and private sector in Guyana.
