Music In Motion Our director, Alyssa, and the founder of Hearts in Motion, Karen, came up with the idea for Music in Motion in the summer of 2013. It is through H.I.M.

A program under the organization Hearts in Motion that is dedicated to bringing the power of music to the people of Guatemala by providing free music lessons to our students. Music in Motion is in loving memory of our director's brother, Ian Jerdon, who was tragically killed in a car accident on March 12, 2012 at the age of 22. Ian started on his journey with music at 8 years old when he first sta

rted taking guitar lessons. He fell in love with music and started writing his own around the age of 10. He spent hours of every day playing, studying and listening to music. He later taught himself to play other instruments and became a predominant figure in the local music scene. Music was his passion and he found his greatest joy in sharing it with others. In the spring of 2014, lessons officially began and we have been providing them ever since. Our students learn how to play a variety of instruments, including the guitar, keyboard and drums, as well as vocals. All of our lessons are free to our students. In 2019, we expanded to a second location in Guatemala in order to spread the power of music with even more students. and Ian that this program came to be and it is our sincere hope that Music in Motion will provide for the people of Guatemala what music did for Ian.

Do you remember Giovanni?

We had a bass in Pueblo Modelo that wasn't working properly so he asked Esdras if he could take a look at it. Not only did he identify the problem, but he was able to fix it as you can see here 👏🏼🎶 Building confidence and providing opportunities for our students to learn and grow is what we are all about! Great job and thank you, Giovanni!
