Dear friends and partners, As you may have seen in national news coverage, Indiana experienced significant and historic storms this week that caused widespread damage across the region. Hearts In Motion’s headquarters are located in Schererville, IN, and many of our key leaders and staff reside in the surrounding communities. All of our Indiana-based team members have been dramatically affected and have been without power since Tuesday.

We are grateful to share that all staff are safe and unharmed. However, many are facing property damage, ongoing power outages, and major communication challenges due to disrupted cell service and data networks. Our Resale Shoppe is currently closed because of the outage.

Because of this unprecedented situation, we kindly ask for your patience as our team navigates these challenges. Some staff members outside of Indiana may be able to assist you in the interim. If they are unable to do so, we appreciate your understanding until full communication and power are restored.

Making progress with bucket drumming 🥁

At the end of Music Camp, we bring our students from both locations together (the only time this happens throughout the year) for a concert to finish the week 🎶 Our instructors work hard to prepare for the concert. During Music Camp, our volunteers work on techniques and songs with our students based on where they need some extra support. A true collaborative effort between our musician volunteers and instructors to teach our students and get them ready for the big day! Everyone gets to be a part of the concert, instructors, students, and musician volunteers playing 🎶 and everyone getting to dance and enjoy the music 🎶

It truly is an awesome event that brings everyone in the program and on the trip together 🎶💙

Music Camp 🎶, Education, and Construction Trip 2026 recap pt 3

Music Camp is such a special part of this trip. Musicians volunteer to spend the week with our instructors and students, working with the students on skills and songs highlighted by our instructors. There's time for lessons, jam sessions, and so much fun 😁🎶

We will be sharing videos from Music Camp as well as the final concert that closes out the week soon, but first, we wanted to share some photo highlights from camp 🤩

Music Camp, Education, and Construction 🛠️🏠 Trip 2026 pt 2 recap

To go along with our team's theme of being "small but mighty", our construction crew rose to the challenge in a big way! We technically only had 1 volunteer working exclusively on the construction team - and he was awesome! - everyone pitched in when they were able to help bring this project to life 💙 It is always a special moment handing over the keys 🔑🏠

Music Camp, Education 📚, & Construction Trip 2026 Recap pt 1

We are starting our recap with our awesome Education team lead by Dr. Dávila 📚 This years professional development workshops focused on promoting literacy among students. As always, these workshops are 100% collaborative between local educators, Hearts In Motion staff, and volunteers... And we always make time to play and interact with our youngest students at the Hearts In Motion learning center in Pueblo Modelo 🇬🇹
