Founded in 2002 through a collaboration of Quetzalteco and US medical students, Primeros Pasos has partnerships with universities, businesses, NGOs, and individuals, both international and local, that support our work and the field of community health. We are incorporated in Guatemala as a non-profit association (Asociación PASOS) and our counterpart in the US, The Inter-American Health Alliance, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our current programs include:
-an affordable and accessible walk-in clinic with medical consults, dental consults, on-site pharmacy, and laboratory services 8:30-12:30 5 days a week
-community outreach nutrition and food security program supporting children under 2 with chronic or acute malnutrition, pregnant women, and their families
-school-based health program providing free mobile clinics, nutritional evaluations, and free care/low-cost meds for students at 4 high need schools
-service learning program inviting talented local and foreign students and professionals to volunteer their time and learn from our programs, methodologies, and communities
