Yesterday, our team in Nicaragua headed out for a medical outreach (jornada) to La Tiguilota—a remote community two hours away from our clinic on horseback, riding through jungles, over mountains, and along the ocean coast.

We provided consultations, check-ups, and essential medications to 30 residents who simply can't reach our clinic due to the distance and rough terrain.

❤️ A huge thank you to our team on the ground for making this trip happen!

We recently spent an incredible day with the kids at the school in El Pojom for a hands-on Jornada de Educación de Salud (Health Education Day)! 🇬🇹✨

Across six interactive sessions, our team worked with over 500 children to cover simple, everyday health habits:

🥕 Nutrition: Learning about different food groups and healthy eating.
🧼 Hygiene: Easy steps for proper handwashing and dental care.
💧 Hydration: Why drinking enough clean water every day matters for our health.

Alongside the workshops, we provided direct preventive care—distributing deworming medication to 289 children and a monthly supply of multivitamins to 49 kids.

To keep these lessons going throughout the school year, our nurse, Carly Long, will help us run regular health sessions moving forward.

A huge thank you to our Guatemala Country Director, Caitlin Claxton, and Carly Long for coordinating every detail and making this day such a success! ❤️

🌟 How You Can Help

To run these jornadas consistently, we need to ensure we have the funds for necessary medications and supplies each month. Setting up a monthly donation is the best way to support this effort and keep our work going!

You don’t need a medical degree to save lives.

When people think of healthcare missions in Guatemala and Nicaragua, they often picture doctors and nurses. And while our medical teams do incredible work, our clinics couldn’t run for a single day without our non-medical volunteers and supporters.

Providing access to essential healthcare for remote communities takes a whole village. Here is how YOU can make a real difference, no matter your background:

✨ 1. Volunteer with us on the ground
Not a doctor? No problem! We always need passionate people for crucial non-medical roles:

▪️Administration & Clinic Management — keeping operations smooth.
▪️Logistics & Maintenance — making sure everything is in place.
▪️Gardening & Groundskeeping — keeping our clinic spaces safe and welcoming.
▪️Content Creation & Storytelling — helping us capture photos, videos, and stories to share with the world.
Apply-> https://he-he.org/en/volunteer-programs/4

✨ 2. Become a Monthly Donor -> https://he-he.org/en/donate
Setting up a recurring donation is the single best way to keep our work sustainable. It gives us the certainty that we can purchase vital medicines, cover daily operational expenses, and keep our doors open for those who have nowhere else to turn.

✨ 3. Spread the Word
Sharing our posts and telling your friends, family, or colleagues about our mission costs nothing, but it means everything. Your share might inspire the next volunteer, sponsor, or donor to join us!

Thank you!

In April, we fully launched our new clinic in El Pojom, Guatemala 🎉

In just the first month, we were able to care for more than 400 patients.

This project is incredibly challenging, but also deeply meaningful for our team.

El Pojom is in one of the most remote regions of Guatemala, where more than 10,000 people previously had no access to a single licensed doctor.

Over the past months, we worked to bring the clinic back to life — renovating the space, delivering essential equipment and medications, building a team, and creating safer, more comfortable conditions for both patients and everyone working at the clinic.

This would not have been possible without all of you.

Thank you to our local and remote teams, our volunteers, and our donors for standing with us ❤️
