A ministry to help overcome drug dependency and homelessness of Antigua, Guatemala.

Cafe Refrescante focuses on those living on the streets and those struggling with substance abuse. It's an outlet for them to receive free coffee, play games, receive encouragement and prayer, and have practical needs met (medical, paperwork, etc.)

We are moving into our new donation space where everything is FREE for missionaries. Still a lot to organize and boxes and boxes to go through, but feel free to come by! We're here every Friday morning in the entrance of Pastores.

Today we put one of our street guys into the halfway home. You can be praying for his process!

Most of the morning we spent organizing our missionary donation center. We love having the help and also being able to bless others.

One of our guys pulled out two bottles—one of rubbing alcohol and another of liquor. One of his close friends just passed from alcohol and he seems to think this is making him feel better.

I showed him the most recent scripture on the chalk board:

"You have taught me to live like you like me to,
In your presence I am very happy,
At your side I'm always joyful."

I asked, "does it say in alcohol I am very happy? With alcohol by my side I'm always joyful?"

We talked about how God is the only one to give us something real and that life isn't promised tomorrow.

I've begun taking photos of our regulars and will begin a birthday wall.

"Do you need prayer? Come inside!"

This community is low income where many of the spouses drink heavily and don't have formal jobs. We're located off the busiest street for foot traffic, so seems natural to invite others in for prayer. This was something we loved doing weekly in the central park of Guatemala City. Now we can do it daily in the cafe.
