I remember my grammar school used to present Saturday afternoon matinees for us back in the 70s.
So happy to give our mission kids a chance to enjoy a Saturday afternoon of safe fun, as well as popcorn and drinks!

Before feeding our kids, the church and anteroom are open to small groups for Bible-related stories, lessons, and activities. We're so happy to see former mission kids and recent baptizees from our church stepping up to work with the youngers guys while we prepare hot, nutritious meals in the next room. Praise God for it!

Besides feeding kids and sharing groceries with struggling families, our mission at La Cuchilla supports a small women's ministry.
Last month- the Month of Love- the group held a seminar for married couples complete with a guest presentation, discussion, and supper.
Our Women's Mission is affiliated with MOPS-Guatemala, an organization that supports mothers of young children.

Our Feeding and Faith programs are in full swing, including some special guests like these gentlemen from Korea who partner with another local church to offer Faith-based Tae Kwando classes that several of our kids take advantage of.
They gave a fun and well-received demonstration at La Cuchilla before assisting with the meal service. THANK YOU to our new Korean friends!

Sleigh #1 is loaded up and ready to go. This will be the first 72 of about 200 holiday food baskets distributed around Guatemala City. Sleighs #2 and 3 will be loaded with toys, decorations, equipment and the makings of a holiday lunch for our kids in La Cuchilla.
The GOOD NEWS PROJECT kicks off on Monday and rolls along with 5 stops between then and Christmas Eve. Please keep our volunteers in your prayers the next week or two!

We were a little nervous when our entire 8-member "older kids" Sunday School class asked to have a meeting with us. Lo and behold, it was the start of a joyous journey that culminated in the FIRST BAPTISM EVENT of our church since before covid.
All 8 of our pre- and early teens finished a Baptism curriculum and took the plunge in an off-site church-wide celebration this past Sunday.

We're not a high-tech operation. But our kids are happy with 2 tables and a couple of boxes holding our little projector high enough watch The Story of Jesus at our recent Sunday School sleepover class.

We get a lot of mileage out of the karaoke machine and cell phone that provided the video feed and sound on another great day here in Guatemala City!

Guatemala was hit with a series of shallow earthquakes this afternoon causing multiple landslides and widespread damage. Aftershocks continue.

We have some cleaning up to do in our home as items fell off shelves and walls. But we enjoyed the unscheduled block party with all of our neighbors and their dogs.

Our volunteers and mission families appear to be okay. At least one structure collapsed near to our La Isla (Santa Fe) feeding program. Minor damage reported near other sites. We'll head out when the roads are clear to check everyone out and assist anyone we can.
