Anyone who wishes to teach, contribute, and learn can find an engaging volunteer opportunity here at Safe Passage. What can YOU do? Our volunteers support the students in a myriad of ways! Volunteering at Safe Passage is a rewarding experience and we truly believe that everyone can find a volunteer home in our program! If you have 3-5 weeks to volunteer, you can support our wonderful kitchen staff as they chop veggies, cook huge vats of rice, and hand out healthy plates of food to our smiling students! If you have 5 weeks or more to volunteer (and speak Spanish!), we’ll place you in a classroom where you will be helping our classroom teachers and supporting our learners. Classroom volunteers are essential to our program! Many volunteers enjoy this option because they get to know all of the students in their classes so well and feel like they are having a direct impact on the academic success of their students. Classroom volunteers accompany their classes to English, Creative Expression, Sports, and Health classes and get a great glimpse into the variety of programs at Safe Passage. For qualified applicants interested in making a commitment of 6 months or more (with a good command of Spanish!), you can teach English, lead Creative Expression classes, tutor our little learners in the Escuelita, and support our older students in the main building with academic reinforcement.
