We cultivate and catalyze young people to create just and sustainable communities in Guatemala and El They require a generation of leaders.

We support emerging leaders and change-makers through three cross-cutting areas:
1. Through LEADERSHIP TRAINING to help youth address the root
causes of injustice, inequality and unsustainability.

2. In COMMUNITY CENTERS to provide young people with services, resources and opportunities for positive engagement around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

3. With ECO-SOCIAL VENTURES, incubating

and growing promising
locally-led social and environmental businesses. To change everything, it takes everyone...

Young people are our MOST SUSTAINABLE resource. We need to
HARNESS that resource to create a future we can all live with. We know with support and the right kind of learning, any young
person can become an influential and impactful leader. We also know the challenges we face require more than a handful of leaders. We are building that generation. With our support, SERES’ young leaders are building a better future. They are engaging in political spaces, inspiring political change, mobilizing to catalyse social progress, driving innovative community- led solutions, building community resilience and creating more participative and inclusive democratic processes.

🌿 ¿Qué sucede cuando la juventud y la comunidad aprende directamente de la naturaleza?

En Ulew Fuego, jóvenes y comunidades exploran nuevas formas de relacionarse con la tierra, observando, experimentando y aprendiendo de los procesos naturales que sostienen la vida.

Recientemente, compartimos un espacio de aprendizaje sobre el bosque, la agricultura sintrópica y los beneficios que los ecosistemas brindan a nuestras comunidades.

Pero Ulew Fuego es más que un lugar de aprendizaje.
Es un territorio donde convergen:
🌱 Liderazgo juvenil
🌳 Regeneración ecológica
🤝 Conocimiento comunitario
💚 Medios de vida sostenibles

Porque cuando el aprendizaje se conecta con el territorio, las personas fortalecen su capacidad para cuidar, regenerar y construir futuros más sostenibles desde sus propias comunidades.

El liderazgo juvenil crece cuando una comunidad decide apostar por sus jóvenes.

Del 17 al 22 de mayo, jóvenes de Uspantán participaron en el programa CATALIZADORES junto a liderazgos juveniles de Guatemala, El Salvador y Honduras.
Su participación fue posible gracias a la colaboración entre la de Uspantán , Fe y Alegría No.54 Uspantán, Quiché , SERES y actores comprometidos con generar más oportunidades para la juventud.

Más que un apoyo logístico, esta articulación refleja algo importante: cuando comunidades, instituciones y organizaciones trabajan juntas, las juventudes acceden a experiencias que fortalecen su liderazgo, amplían sus perspectivas y fortalecen su capacidad de transformar sus territorios.

En SERES creemos que el liderazgo juvenil no se construye en solitario. Crece a través de redes de confianza, colaboración y compromiso compartido.
Gracias a quienes continúan apostando por las juventudes y haciendo posible estos espacios de aprendizaje y acción colectiva. 🌿

“I've done things I never thought I would do for my community.”

Delmy's story reminds us that leadership rarely begins with certainty.

It begins with curiosity.
With an invitation.
With someone believing that young people can lead.

Today, Delmy is organizing community activities, promoting environmental action, and encouraging other young people to get involved in Las Tablas.

When young people are trusted with opportunities, leadership grows.
And communities grow with them. 🌱

We had the opportunity to welcome two volunteers from France, who are part of the volunteer network from the Green Citizen UNESCO initiative.

During their visit, they connected with our fellows, learned about our approach, and experienced firsthand how youth leadership is being cultivated across communities.
These exchanges remind us that local action is part of a global movement — one that continues to grow through shared learning and collaboration.

Francisco Llamas is a former participant in SERES processes and continues to exercise leadership through civic participation. Through ANPA, he brought the concerns of youth in Escuintla into a dialogue space with authorities, highlighting the need to improve public road infrastructure in his municipality.

At SERES, we celebrate these journeys: young people transforming leadership into civic action, dialogue, and proposals for the common good. 🌱

Listening is also a form of leadership.
As part of this journey, our Community Research Fellows — through professional internships — are engaging deeply with their communities:
to understand, to reflect, and to learn from what already exists.
This process leads to community-based diagnoses, which are presented to local authorities and key stakeholders, strengthening dialogue and collective decision-making.
From these processes, we strengthen:
• Actions that respond to real needs
• Ongoing community processes
• Leadership rooted in context and lived experience
Because when we listen with intention,
we act with greater meaning.

Last week, a new generation of leaders started walking on a new path.
We are currently welcoming the 2026 cohort of Community Management and Community Research Fellows, as they begin their induction and training process.
In the days ahead, they will deepen their skills, strengthen their sense of purpose, and prepare to walk alongside their communities — not as external actors, but as leaders from within.
This is where it starts: with learning, reflection, and a shared commitment to collective wellbeing.
