Yesterday, while I was eating my lunch in Guatemala City, I heard the still, small voice of the Father. It was concerning a chicken strip. You may be thinking, are you kidding. No, I am not! He said, "Don't eat it." I actually had eaten several, and I was full. I still wanted it, but I obeyed and put it back in the box. This is not the first time something like this has happened to me, either.
So, here is the lesson: Matthew 13:15, For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
This is what is described as a hard heart in other scriptures (Mark 6:52 and 8:17-18).
The word “waxed” is a word picture of how candles were made. A wick was dipped in hot wax and then removed to cool. A thin layer of wax hardened. This was repeated hundreds of times until a candle was made. Until it thickened.
Likewise, our hearts don’t become hardened all at once. It’s a process!
A chicken strip seems like nothing, but if I can't obey God with a chicken strip, how will I respond to God's voice when the "laying down" requires something much more difficult--something that makes better sense than a chicken strip. It is a dangerous thing to become desensitized to the Father's voice.
