Note of Mourning
The Transiciones Association and the wheelchair basketball athletes deeply mourn the passing of dear friend Marta Juliana Canel de Acajabón, a distinguished sports leader, wheelchair basketball athlete, and a woman who provided invaluable support to the development of this sport in Guatemala.

We deeply recognize her dedication and commitment to advancing adaptive sports and promoting inclusion in our country, helping to pave the way and create opportunities for people with disabilities.

Her devotion, passion, and support for wheelchair basketball left a significant mark on all of us who are part of this movement. Her legacy will remain in the history of adaptive sports in Guatemala and in the hearts of those who had the opportunity to know her and share moments with her.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, friends, colleagues, and to all those who mourn her passing today.

We are grateful for and honor her tremendous support, dedication, and commitment to adaptive sports.

May she rest in peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire future generations of athletes.

Meet Alisson, an amazing 8-year-old .

Despite being born with myelomeningocele and hydrocephalus, Alisson fills every day with determination and joy. She loves math, enjoys athletics, cheers passionately for Argentina's soccer team, and never goes anywhere without her favorite stuffed animal, especially during hospital visits. 🧸

Today, we're celebrating a special milestone—Alisson has received a new wheelchair! ♿ This gift will give her greater comfort, independence, and freedom to enjoy school, family activities, and everyday adventures while making life a little easier for her loving mother.

Thank you to everyone who helps children like Alisson keep moving toward a brighter future!

The Guatemala 2026 National Wheelchair Basketball Team's high-performance athletes are undergoing intensive training in preparation for their upcoming competitions at the Asociación Transiciones training facility. This important training program is made possible through the valuable support of AGALFI, Professor Adán Miranda, COPAG, and the Vice Minister of Sports and Recreation. Their commitment reinforces the development of adaptive sports and helps create opportunities for these athletes to proudly represent Guatemala at both the national and international levels.

Dignity via mobility!

Transiciones de la Antigua Guatemala ha brindado un valioso apoyo a la Municipalidad de Ixcán con la donación de sillas de ruedas para niños y niñas con discapacidad.

Esta importante gestión ha sido canalizada a través de la Oficina Municipal de la Niñez, Adolescencia y Juventud (OMNAJ), con el compromiso de promover la inclusión, el bienestar y una mejor calidad de vida para la niñez de nuestro municipio.
