And the moment is here… Main sponsor of MuralArte Guate’s community murals is… COLOUR4KIDS!!!
Working with the incredible team behind this Dutch foundation has been an absolute pleasure. Our journey began in 2013, when they were supporting a boys’ children’s home (ProNiño) in El Progreso, Honduras. They were looking for a mural artist, and the home’s director recommended me. Together with the teenage residents, we created a superhero-themed mural—completely inspired by their own ideas and imagination.
Two years later, Erik, Hassan, and I reunited at the same place, this time to celebrate the completion of a new dormitory built by Colour4Kids for the younger children. We continued the superhero theme with the message: Everybody can be a hero! Despite working through an intense heatwave during the hottest time of year in the country’s warmest region, we had an amazing experience. With temperatures reaching 45°C (113°F) in the shade and a deadline approaching, we still made it happen!
In 2017, Erik and I crossed paths again in the Dominican Republic, where we painted three murals together. It was a truly unforgettable trip—and a story worth sharing another time.
Since the launch of MuralArte Guate, Colour4Kids has continued to support many more mural projects. Looking back through all the photos brought back so many memories. Apologies for the photo dump—it was simply too difficult to choose!
Erik, Jos, Hassan, and Sijmon from Colour4Kids: thank you so much for your continued support. It means the world!
