Hiya everybody we Just Launched our annual fundraiser campaign that is a matching donation Grant Challenge this year !!!

And we need your help to start up and open the first regional Community Design, Ecology, Arts, and Educational Center in our barrio on the edge of Lake Peten Itza and the Mayan Biosphere, near Tikal, Guatemala.

Coming together with the objective of raising our families out of poverty, our core group of 20 Mayan Q eqchi Women are taking action and leadership heading up a shared workshop cooperative space that fosters creativity through design, ecology, the arts, and community learning; while catering to the creativity and the future of our Youth and children.

Im blown away! Tree frogs symbolize the balance of nature and the thing of it is this little green one here means I made my property enough of a haven that it would even consider coming. Its the first one Ive ever seen!

You have no idea how much it means to me. Ive worked so hard the past few years to turn a nearly vacant lifeless lot into an intentional place of biodiversity. And for this one to come- Oh my god Im just so so happy to see this little creature for all that it means. I would have never in a million years imagined that"accomplishment" could come in the form of a beautiful little green Blue Spotted Mexian tree frog.

I know youre not supposed to touch amphibians. I was showering and noticed a wee green thing wedged snugly into the less than ideal habitat of the rotating window panes, I gasped in awe and jumped out of the shower! Yes A I did want a look at it and B put it in a nice tree hole hideaway. It was in my 'fresh out of the shower little acid and no chemical hands' for all of 30 seconds just to make sure it wouldn't get loose while bringing it quickly to the tree. The second photo I took just before I nudged it encouragingly to go down in and back to sleep in a sleepy tree hollow cove.

There have been a few other big important firsts along the way that have made me gasp The first earth worm! The first mushroom! And the first toad who yal heard about;) But today its this little green guy.

This noble creature has been my neighbor a couple years now but this is the first time its let me see it right up close on my fence within an arms reach. About 2 feet long !

Este noble creatura he sido mi vecino un par de años pero es primera vez que me dejo verlo asi de cerca sobre mi cerco a distancia de un brazo. Aprox 2 pies de largo!

Incredibly Great News

Yesterday an election for our new village mayor took place after six months of not having ANY mayor at all!!!

With a small but mighty attendance of around 40 people; perhaps be that it was a somewhat cold, rainy, muddy afternoon.

The highlight is that our new Village Mayor elect- to step forward- to offer his service on behalf of the community- is a gentleman who is a member of our Association!! I had no previous knowledge that he was considering offering his service, so Im just tickled pink.

Being a village mayor is voluntary, it's not a paid position. It's an admirable gesture, and a heavy task. As an Association member and my neighbour, I know that he comes from a humble situation, and that coming forward to fill this role is with tremendous good will. The children in the cover photos on our campaign are HIS!

Let's brighten the prospectives for these kids together. Let's brighten their world @
