In communities like Coyolate, dental care is often out of reach for many families. This week, a dental team from Oregon is working shoulder to shoulder with our local staff, expanding access and strengthening care through steady partnership and shared commitment.

This week we are grateful to have a team from New Jersey serving with us. More than a week of work, we honor their long term commitment. They are not short term heroes, they have walked with us for years, investing in relationships and showing up consistently. We see this as faith lived out in partnership, trusting that God works through steady presence, shared responsibility, and love expressed over time.

Our community center is taking shape. Through our afterschool program, kids play, create, and learn together. We go deep, not fast. We invest in relationships, knowing real growth happens over time.

today we open the doors of the community center in San Antonio. We also named it Tejiendo Comunidad, which literally means sewing community. A name that speaks of care, connection, and belonging, built one thread at a time.

This work matters. Creating emotional awareness in children is a meaningful step in a country where emotional education has not always been part of the culture. We believe that honoring the inner world of children, making space for their emotions, and choosing compassion and dignity reflects the way God invites us to care for one another and for the common good.

This community center is an expansion of the work of Healthy Communities, growing from health into learning, emotional care, and shared life.

Many of you may not know yet, but something new is taking root in my hometown, San Antonio Aguas Calientes, a place where care and community are beginning to grow.
The Community Center will be a space that breathes care, where children will have a safe place to play, to name their feelings, to create, to be seen.
We will work with them to expand their emotional vocabulary and to turn small words into safe bridges, it’s healing disguised as play, gentle, real, rooted in love. Last week we met with the families, and a mother said, “I’m so grateful that my children will finally have a safe place to be,” because safety is not just walls, it’s presence, it’s hope.

Transformation happens through relationships
The visit from a church group from New Jersey reminded us of something simple but powerful: real change happens when we share life with others.

What began as a soccer game with our youth and a few conversations with the Diabetic Club turned into something deeper, moments of laughter, listening, and hope. In those small spaces of connection, we saw hearts open and lives strengthened.

Thank you for walking with our community, and for believing that transformation is not built in projects alone, but in the relationships that hold us together.

We’re preparing the land and building in San Antonio Aguas Calientes to open a new community center — an inclusive space where families will find support in emotional health and children will enjoy activities created just for them. 💚

As part of this process, we’ve just installed the playground 🎉. Very soon, children will be running, laughing, and playing here — and we’ll be sharing photos of their joy with you.

In Guatemala, where safe and inclusive spaces for families are rare, this center is more than a building. It’s a vision coming to life — a promise of safety, growth, and community.

Today we celebrate the inauguration of a new preschool in another rural community in Guatemala

This achievement is not the work of one person or one institution. It’s the story of what happens when community voices, parents, donors, and above all, the Community Development Council—representatives of the community including teachers, midwives, youth, church leaders, health promoters, farmers, and elders—step forward together.

Because early education doesn’t just open doors—it shapes the future. And when a community invests in its youngest, the whole community rises. Today, the children of this community begin their journey with hope and opportunity.

When a community stands united, there is nothing we cannot do.

In the community of San Carlos, hope has been slowly cooking… and now it’s ready to be shared!
The school kitchen is finished, and our children are already receiving their first serving of hot meals. This achievement is not just bricks and mortar — it’s a promise fulfilled: nutritious food, restored dignity, and dreams nourished with purpose. 🥘

Seeing their smiles and knowing they now have a safe place to gather fills us with hope. This is the result of many hands, hearts, and efforts coming together.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in San Carlos and made it possible for this community to have more reasons to dream.
We keep working, because there is still much more to do.
