A highlight from this summer was l attending the UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake+4 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 🇪🇹, especially the indigenous-peoples-led session, and also an all Spanish session with some of the LATAM members at the Summit.
Here is a bit of an extract from what our founder mentioned about the sacred aspect of corn 🌽 from our Mayan ancestors, as well as the term Wa’ik in Maya K’iche’ language - meaning to a eat a healthy and nutritious meal. All on the basis of the Independent Dialogue “Improving our Food by Turning the Tortilla Around…and us too” hosted by four years ago. What a powerful session.
In August, we commemorated World Breastfeeding Week, the National Day of Corn, Indigenous Peoples Day, World Humanitarian Day, Youth Day, and many more. And also, it was declared the famine happening in G@z4 and how in conflict and food is treated as a w3apon.
Life is sacred. In Mayan Cosmovision, men and women were born from corn 🌽. Let’s turn the tortilla around, the comal is ready. And let’s also bring the peach, where in Asia it symbolizes eternal life (and rhymes with peace)
