Lucky to see this beautiful female Caretta caretta (Loggerhead sea turtle) on our 7am Gerakas Beach morning survey today midway through laying her eggs 🥚🐢😍

Remember if you see a turtle:
🚫 do not shine lights on it
🚫 do not touch it
🚫 do not make loud noises; stay quiet
✅️ keep your distance
✅️ get out of its way
✅️ remove any obstacles or beach furniture in its way

Our sandsaving shower helps keep sand where it belongs…on the beach! At the end of the season, the collected sand is returned to the beach, helping protect the shoreline on Gerakas beach and maintain the important nesting habitat for sea turtles and other coastal wildlife. 🚿🐢❤️🇬🇷

Protected turtle nesting beaches include:
Gerakas
Daphni
Sekania (closed to all members of the public protected by WWF)
Crystal
Kalamaki
Marathonisi (turtle island)
