🧠 DEDUC Project – Invitation to Healthcare Professionals
Together, we can shape the future of dementia education

As part of the European project DEDUC – Distance Education and Vocational Training on Dementia for University Students and Healthcare Professionals, we invite you to participate in an important European stakeholder consultation involving healthcare professionals and other stakeholders working in the fields of dementia, healthcare, care, education and training.

🎯 Why is your participation important?

The experience, expertise and perspectives of healthcare professionals are essential for designing and improving modern, accessible and effective educational approaches for dementia care.

Through this survey, we aim to better understand:

🧠 Training and professional development needs of healthcare professionals working with people living with dementia.
💻 Barriers and facilitators to the implementation of digital and hybrid education and training programmes.
🎓 The perceived value and practical applicability of DEDUC digital tools, including the learning platform, MOOC and simulation game.
🌍 Requirements for the adaptation and transfer of the DEDUC model to different cultural, educational, professional and institutional contexts.
🏛️ Key policy and educational priorities for strengthening dementia education and professional training across Europe.
🔄 The conditions required to ensure the sustainability and continuation of DEDUC beyond the Erasmus+ funding period.

♿Disability Pride Month
reminds us that inclusion is not just something we talk about
- it is something we intentionally 🌍create!

🧑‍🦼There is a significant difference between advocating for inclusion and designing environments where everyone can genuinely participate. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1.3 billion people worldwide—approximately 1 in 6 individuals—live with a disability.

👩‍🦯‍➡️In addition, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other dementias continue to rise globally, affecting millions of people and accounting for an estimated 5% of the global burden of neurological disorders. These numbers remind us that accessibility is not a niche concern—it is a universal responsibility.

♿️Disability is diverse. It can be visible or invisible, permanent or temporary, physical, sensory, psychiatric, neurodevelopmental, or neurodegenerative. Every person experiences unique challenges, which is why inclusive design should never be an afterthought.

👩‍🦽‍➡️Working in special education, I often ask myself:
• Who are we designing learning experiences for?
• Who do we assume can access the content?
• Who has to work twice as hard because accessibility was never considered from the beginning?

👩‍🦽Accessibility should not be viewed as an optional feature added later. It should be the foundation upon which education, workplaces, technology, and communities are built. When we design with accessibility in mind, everyone benefits—not only people with disabilities.

🦾For me, Disability Pride Month is a powerful reminder that inclusion is measured by our actions, not our intentions. Creating accessible, equitable, and inclusive environments is not an act of charity; it is a commitment to human rights, dignity, and equal opportunity for all.

♿ Accessibility is not a privilege. It is a fundamental human right. Inclusion doesn't happen by chance—it happens by design.

Διαδικτυακό εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα DEDUC που αφορά επαγγελματίες υγείας και φοιτητές. Είναι ουσιαστικά επαγγελματική κατάρτιση στον τομέα της Άνοιας. Αποτελείται απο 10 θεματικές ενότητες με 31 μαθήματα και κάθε μάθημα περιέχει κείμενο, βίντεο και σχετικές ερωτήσεις. Προσεγγίζεται το θέμα σφαιρικά και πρακτικά οπότε έχει νομίζω χρήσιμες γνώσεις και για κάποιον που δουλεύει στον χώρο και έχει ήδη αρκετή εμπειρία. Επίσης, είναι χρήσιμο και σαν εργαλείο εκπαίδευσης για πρακτικάριους, εθελοντές και νέο προσωπικό.
Το εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα είναι δωρεάν, πραγματοποιείται εξολοκλήρου διαδικτυακά και είναι ασύγχρονο, δηλαδή το ολοκληρώνει κανείς στον δικό του ρυθμό και χρόνο.
Είναι ένα έργο στα πλαίσια του ERASMUS + σε συνεργασία με αντίστοιχους φορείς και ένα πανεπιστήμιο απο Πορτογαλία, Ισπανία και Σλοβενία.Είναι ένας εύκολος και γρήγορος τρόπος να εξιδεικευτεί κάποιος στον τομέα οπότε θα είναι ωφέλιμο για τον κάθε επαγγελματία αλλά και για την λειτουργία της κάθε μονάδας. Ήδη μπορεί κάποιος να ξεκινήσει την εκπαίδευση και είναι καλό να την ολοκληρώσει μέχρι αρχές Ιουλίου. Με την ολοκλήρωση θα παρέχεται πιστοποίηση παρακολούθησης απο το Πανεπιστήμιο του Porto με συγκεκριμένες μονάδες ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System - Ευρωπαϊκό Σύστημα Μεταφοράς και Συσσώρευσης Πιστωτικών Μονάδων).

📍Το 2026 αποτελεί μια ιδιαίτερα κρίσιμη περίοδο για την εδραίωση της θεραπευτικής άσκησης ως βασικού πυλώνα πρόληψης, αποκατάστασης και προαγωγής της υγείας.
🌐Η αυξανόμενη επίπτωση των μη μεταδοτικών νοσημάτων,
η γήρανση του πληθυσμού και η εκτεταμένη καθιστική συμπεριφορά καθιστούν αναγκαία την εφαρμογή εξατομικευμένων και επιστημονικά τεκμηριωμένων παρεμβάσεων άσκησης.
🚶‍♀️‍➡️Η θεραπευτική άσκηση δεν μπορεί πλέον να αντιμετωπίζεται αποκλειστικά ως μέσο φυσικής κατάστασης. Αντίθετα, αποτελεί μία ολοκληρωμένη θεραπευτική στρατηγική με σημαντική συμβολή στη δημόσια υγεία, στη λειτουργική αποκατάσταση και στη βελτίωση της ποιότητας ζωής.
📝Η ορθή αξιολόγηση, η εξειδικευμένη συνταγογράφηση, η επαγγελματική επίβλεψη και η ενίσχυση της συμμόρφωσης αποτελούν θεμελιώδεις προϋποθέσεις για την αποτελεσματική εφαρμογή της θεραπευτικής άσκησης στη σύγχρονη κλινική πρακτική.
