With a distinctive artistic voice shaped by a deep engagement with contemporary creation, Greek pianist Erato Alakiozidou has developed an international career that bridges performance, research, and artistic direction.
Her work focuses on the repertoire of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a particular dedication to Greek composers. Through long-standing collaborations with composers, she has given more than 150 world premieres—many written for and dedicated to her—reflecting a sustained commitment to contemporary musical creation.
She has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in concerts, festivals, and academic institutions in Greece and internationally, including Italy, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, former Yugoslavia, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, Bulgaria, France, the United Kingdom, and Poland, among others. She has collaborated with orchestras and ensembles such as the Nae Leonard Symphony Orchestra (Galați, Romania) under Liviu Buiuc, the Orchestra of Colours under Miltos Logiadis, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra under Dimitris Botinis, the ensemble idée fixe under Theodoros Antoniou, Alexandros Myrat, and Dimitris Dimopoulos, as well as the Lutosławski and Dafo string quartets.
Her artistic activity extends beyond performance into curatorship, education, and interdisciplinary artistic projects. In 2013, she co-founded the non-profit organization beArtive, dedicated to the creation of concerts and multi-layered events combining music, text, movement, and visual arts.
She studied in Greece and continued her advanced training in Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland with distinguished pianists and pedagogues, including Roberto Szidon, Julia and Constantin Ganevi, and Nikos Astrinidis.
She is the founder and Artistic Director of the Music Diaries International Workshop Festival. She collaborates with the Istituto Ellenico di Cultura, where since 2025 she serves as Artistic Advisor. In recent years, her strong artistic affinity with Italy has led to frequent performances and collaborative projects across the country, where her artistic presence has been consistently met with great appreciation.
She is a faculty member at the Thessaloniki State Conservatory, where she also serves as International Relations Coordinator (IRC), and Artistic Director of the Municipal Conservatory of Pylaia–Chortiatis.
Her work has been widely recognized, including awards from the Greek Association of Theatre and Music Critics and international distinctions such as Gramophone Editor’s Choice.
She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Aveiro (Portugal), within the Doctoral Program in Artistic Creation, focusing on artistic practice as a field for exploring identity and collective experience.
Based in Thessaloniki, she maintains an active international presence, performing regularly in concerts and festivals and engaging in artistic collaborations worldwide. Protasis Productions, Subways Music, and Ankh Productions have released her recordings, and she collaborates with Odradek Records and Da Vinci Records (since 2022). Her performances have been broadcast by Greek, Bulgarian, and German radio and television, and she has been featured in the Greek and international press.
Lito Thomou
Piano
Greek pianist Lito Thomou began her musical studies at an early age, graduating at seventeen from the National Conservatory of Athens with First Prize and a distinction for outstanding achievement.
She continued her advanced studies with Constantin and Julia Ganevi in Sofia and with Germaine Mounier at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where she was awarded the Diplôme Supérieur d’Exécution with the highest distinction. Her artistic formation was further enriched through studies with distinguished pianists including Alexander Jenner and Rudolf Kehrer in Vienna, Jenny Jacharieva, Achilles delle Vigne, and Ralph Nattkemper in Brussels, as well as participation in the Salzburg Summer Academy.
She has been awarded prizes in international piano competitions, including the Concorso Pianistico Giovani Pianisti (Marsala), the Albert Roussel Competition (Sofia), the Guilde Competition (Paris), and the H.O.N. Competition (Athens).
She has performed as a soloist with orchestras, in chamber music concerts, and in solo recitals across Europe, including Greece, Italy, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Bulgaria, and Ukraine, consistently receiving critical acclaim. Her performances have been broadcast by national radio and television in several countries, as well as by Vatican Radio.
Her repertoire spans the classical canon as well as works by Greek and international contemporary composers, including numerous first national performances. She has collaborated with leading ensembles and institutions such as the Skalkottas Ensemble, the Greek Composers’ Union, the Orchestra of Colours, and Camerata – Friends of Music Orchestra.
Her discography includes the CD Metamorphosis (2012, with oboist Spyros Kontos), featuring contemporary Greek works and awarded an Honorary Distinction by the Greek Critics Association, and Nostalgica Utopica (2016, with flutist Nikos Nikopoulos), dedicated to works by Evangelos Kokkoris.
She is a piano professor at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory and Artistic Director of its branches in Nea Smyrni and Agia Paraskevi.
Erato Alakiozidou & Lito Thomou – Piano Duo
The piano duo of Erato Alakiozidou and Lito Thomou has developed a distinctive artistic presence through performances that bring together diverse musical identities, aesthetics, and cultural references.
With a strong emphasis on program dramaturgy and the live interaction between the two pianists, the duo approaches the two-piano repertoire as a space of dialogue, energy, and expressive exchange.
They have performed in major concert venues across Greece, including Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as internationally, with appearances in Turkey and Italy. Their collaborations unfold within both festival contexts and independent artistic productions, presenting programs that span from the classical repertoire to contemporary and intercultural works.
