On 27-30 October, Fifty-Fifty as the coordinator of CISOMO II, participated in the EmpowerEngage Lab: ‘’Citizens Living Lab for Civil Engagement and Advocacy" in Romania. Hosted by the Association for Socio-Economic Studies Craiova, the event brought together representatives of partner organizations from Greece, Romania, Germany, Bulgaria, Denmark, Poland, Sweden, and Slovenia to exchange experiences, promote civic participation, and strengthen European solidarity.
Over four inspiring days, participants explored key topics related to migration, inclusion, civic engagement, and intercultural dialogue. Highlights included:
🔹 Presentations on migration policies and integration challenges in Romania by representatives of the General Inspectorate for Immigration.
🔹 A thought-provoking discussion on migration and human rights following the screening of excerpts from the documentary Human Flow.
🔹 A visit to the Museum of Exile, where participants reflected on the history of Romanian exile and its connections to contemporary migration experiences.
🔹 An emotional and inspiring intercultural session organized by Global Help Association, featuring migrants from Congo and Côte d’Ivoire who shared their personal stories and traditions through dialogue and African traditional dance.
🔹 Meetings with representatives of Craiova City Hall and the Social Assistance Directorate, focusing on local policies and services supporting vulnerable groups, migrants, and refugees.
The event created a vibrant space for learning, collaboration, and mutual understanding, demonstrating how dialogue and active citizenship can contribute to more inclusive and resilient communities across Europe.
