🌍 World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought 2026
On 17th of June, the world marked the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought under the theme:
“Rangelands: Recognize. Respect. Restore.”
Rangelands, including grasslands, savannas, shrublands and deserts support billions of people, sustain pastoralist communities, protect biodiversity and strengthen our resilience to drought and climate change.
Yet many of these important landscapes are being degraded. Protecting them means recognizing their true value, respecting the knowledge and rights of the communities that care for them, and investing in their restoration.
At Club Serres for Unesco, we believe that healthy land is essential for healthy communities, food and water security, biodiversity and a more resilient future.
Let us protect the land before its loss becomes irreversible. Every restored landscape is a step towards hope, resilience and opportunity. 🌱
Recognize. Respect. Restore.
