We welcome you from Ikaria here in March of 2022 with the latest news on our project! To get started, we wanted to share what our mission involves. Namely, improving Ikaria, its community, helping its people, and making use of the land to grow vegetables and raise animals and offer various activities to travelers wanting to come and have an authentic summer experience in Ikaria. We offer possibili
tes of learning, project building, vacation, and gaining knowledge in sustainable living, science, agriculture, but also things that lie on the spiritual and psychological side of the spectrum of human needs; meditation, promoting well being, and even artistic creation through connecting with nature. Ikaria is an absolutely beautiful Island, ordained by the gods with many fruit and olive trees, herbs, vegetables, wild goats, and a stunning landscape. We think writers, poets, and thespians could find a fine place here to go through their writing process, inspire their creativity, and create great works, or perform them. This is why the current mission of Otopos involves acquiring a headquarters at which we would have a stage where theater and music and poetry could be performed, so that we can promote both a beautiful way of living as well as creativity and artistic creation for artists wanting to have such a summer on such a beautiful island. For nature enthusiasts, we offer horseback riding and hiking through the areas renowned for their beauty and untampered holds, up high into the mountains, with villages all around having their own feasts and parties offering many possibilities for a vibrant and authentic summer. If Otopos could do one thing, it would be to be offering many things all at once. We are looking for like-minded people who want to come make things happen here, whether it be work stay or taking up a more digital role all sorts of skills are required. We have many positions open within our organizational chart, the idea being that to be effective organization is a must, and that bringing in talent who can help us achieve our objectives will be enlightening to our brainstorming and concretization of them. Namely, we look to plant many fruit trees on the lands that Otopos and the family can make use of. There is also an old 5 bedroom house that we dream of furnishing and hosting artists and musicians for our creative projects. In addtion, we look to find an official headquarters for us as a non governmental agency. The idea behind this would be to have a place that would allow us to hold theater and musical performance, and use entry donations to reinvest in the land by planting trees, installing water collection units in Ikaria, solar panels for energy independence, perhaps on a massive level. At our headquarters which would be a sort of old discotheque that we would use for the theater and artistic manifestations, we hope to bring good people to the island who can support a community struggling with the economic reality of living in these times. The community needs international support. We want to improve and help the island,
support the local economy. There is so much work to do and so much talen that is missing. If you think you have got something to offer, want to work stay or want to find a place to stay for a vacation that includes activities like horsback riding, yoga, hiking, and social gatherings for artistic performances, please write us. Yoga Retreat Director! We also offer survival tours, staying three days in the mountains with Captain Giorgos, who knows the island by heart. Also tours to the hot springs for healing. (Theoretical Text)
Greetings! A community of free-thinkers with a conscious and sustainable lifestyle that exists in ecological harmony with life and Mother Nature. We aim to create a self-sustaining society with a flow of exchange, based on solidarity, sharing, love, and respect for the environment as well as our body, mind, and soul. Otopos offers a free space for self-expression of this lifestyle through permaculture, eco-farming, art, and learning how to live sustainably, through diverse local cultures and traditional knowledge, and developed body awareness. We are searching for experienced and non-experienced human beings to join our community for a longer time ( no fees ), or for a shorter time (a donation of 5 Euro/day is welcome), live with us in tents, or in the house, and work few hours daily to help develop this place and the plants and animals living there with us. For families special solutions for their case. We also need a project leader, an experienced, charismatic, independent, zen person, who is able to treat the working teams in a pacifistic way. Probably a female person would fit this job more, but we would welcome any person now. We are preparing our food&lifestyle revolution and collecting very nice energies to keep this magical place blooming.
