Youth under 30 make up more than half of the world’s population. They are driving innovation, social change and sustainable development.
UNESCO is advancing global education and driving results not only for, but with, young people. For , UNESCO brought together leaders, partners, such as the Global Partnership for Education, and young people around a shared message: education works best when youth are not only heard, but empowered as co-creators.
➡️ Opening reflections by Director-General Khaled El-Enany and Amina J Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, set the tone for a day focused on youth leadership and collective action.
💬 A fireside chat with youth leaders and partners explored how young people can help shape education decision-making, from classrooms to global policy tables.
📚 The day also marked the launch of the 2026 GEM Report Unesco Youth Report: Lead with youth, calling for young people to be embedded as partners in education systems at every level.
Education is stronger when shaped by youth leadership. The future of education must be built with them.
