🌊 World Oceans Day 2026 🌊
World Oceans Day – 8 June 2026
On this World Oceans Day, the ARION – Cetacean Rescue and Rehabilitation Research Center celebrates the immense value of our seas and renews its commitment to the protection of marine biodiversity in Greece and the Mediterranean.
The ocean is the heartbeat of our planet. It regulates climate, produces oxygen, supports livelihoods, and provides a home for an extraordinary diversity of life—from the smallest plankton to the largest whales.
Today, we honor the dolphins, whales, sea turtles, seals, seabirds, and countless marine species that depend on healthy and resilient marine ecosystems. We also recognize the dedication of scientists, conservationists, volunteers, fishermen, sailors, local communities, and public authorities working together to safeguard our shared marine heritage.
As pressures from climate change, pollution, underwater noise, habitat degradation, and unsustainable human activities continue to grow, collective action has never been more important.
ARION remains committed to: 🔹 Protecting cetaceans and other marine wildlife
🔹 Responding to strandings and marine wildlife emergencies
🔹 Advancing scientific research and monitoring
🔹 Supporting marine protected areas and biodiversity conservation
🔹 Raising public awareness and environmental responsibility
🔹 Contributing to national and international marine conservation initiatives
On this special day, let us remember that every action counts. Protecting the ocean means protecting our future.
