International Women’s Day! 🌹
In the most devastating context possible. 😓
A new war is raging in the Middle East, where some of the first victims were hundreds of little girls..

Refugee 4 Refugees have over the past nine years helped victims of war, with humanitarian aid and emergency relief. In various locations in Greece, on the Ukrainian border, and for the past fifteen months in Syria, in the aftermath of a war that lasted for fourteen years. 💔

And now again war, leading to death and destruction, but also ‘mass production’ of new victims, new refugees.. where every single missile, every single bomb costs a small fortune.. that could have helped thousand of people, built schools, built up cities again.

It’s devastating, but we are not giving up! 🫶🏽
The Syrian people still need food, while others are killing, we are saving lives! 🥰

Our first year in Syria has been challenging, but we have also achieved a lot! We are now established in Deir ezZor, where we are working on our new project to give the children a brighter future! 🤩

We wish for continuing peace and prosperity for Syria in the new year and will do our best to help the Syrian people!

One year ago, on this day, our founder and leader Omar, could set his foot on Syrian soil again, after many years in exile!
It was always his dream! 🥰

It’s been a harsh and challenging year, for Omar and R4R, but first and foremost for the Syrian people. The country is still in ruins, the people are struggling, many are starving.
In many ways, Omar’s dream has turned into a terrible nightmare. 💔

With more funding, he could have done so much more, but he has still achieved a lot❣️
📍Food distributions to many thousands.
📍Distribution of bread, to even more.
📍Rebuilding and restoring people’s homes.
📍Eid celebrations, with meals and meat, that many people hadn’t tasted for years.
📍Individual help to children struggling with various difficult health conditions.
📍Entertainment and play for children.

He will continue working hard to help people, now focusing on setting up a school and activity centre in Deir ezZor, his home city.
The biggest challenge and limitation is, as always, the funding.

🌍 INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY! ❤️
Thank you to all of you, beautiful souls from all over the world, for your support! ✨

Ten years ago our founder and leader, Omar Alshakal, arrived in Lesvos and started volunteering in the refugee crisis in Greece. He was young, but already had years of experience with humanitarian work and crisis management, always as a volunteer. He was only seventeen when he started, because war broke out in his home country, Syria. 💔

In April 2017, he founded Refugee 4 Refugees, and his relentless efforts to help people in need continue, and he is now back in Syria!
Omar works in the field, but volunteering is also so much more than that, because everything he does depends on the funding, and that again depends on how many people we can reach, with our appeal for support.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in helping vulnerable people, in a huge variety of different ways, from field work to pressing the share button. You are all volunteers and we are extremely grateful! 🫶🏽🫶
But we still need your support!

The children in Syria also have a mental health. Playing and learning in a safe and peaceful environment is pure therapy! 🥰
