We sincerely thank our visitors to the Sanctuary who bring carrots and apples for our donkeys 🫏
Please keep in mind that feeding by visitors is not allowed...
Our donkeys are all rescued, many have had a hard woking life and never tasted a carrot or apple.
When they smell them they go crazy...they love them so much.
Feeding by visitors can cause them to fight amongst themselves, and feeding of a whole carrots may cause them to choke . Also some of our older donkeys have no back teeth to chew a carrot.
We know which ones but visitors do not.
What do we do ?...we cut up buckets of apples and carrots into chunks and feed them to the donkeys with their muesli breakfast..each donkey has its own breakfast bowl.
They eat them very civilised and absolutely love them ❤️

Dear donkey friends...
an announcement from our lovely boy Marios..
The sanctuary will not be open on Saturday August 15th...it is a big National Holiday.
We will open again as normal on Tuesday August 18th.

What great ears you have Dorothèa....
In September 2024 we rescued our beautiful Dorothèa from Imbros Gorge.
She had been left abandoned... without feed , shade or water by a foreign
movie team who used her to make a movie.
Dorothèa ( name in Greek ..Gift from God )
Is so happy here at our sanctuary.
Lot's of love and cuddles, as well as everything else a donkey deserves ❤️

Thank you to all our friends and supporters of our Sanctuary for your messages asking if we are safe...
So far the fires are about 20 kms away, but sadly very hot temps and strong winds we are still at high risk.
We are fully prepared to do everything we possibly can to keep our donkeys and animals safe.
