🎪 Every time visits .lesvos, something shifts. Suddenly there’s more laughter in the hallways, more lightness in the air.

Emergency Smile is the crisis response programme of , sending trained healthcare clowns to communities affected by displacement and crisis. At Paréa, we welcome their team several times a year for performances with children and families, and for Humour Relief Workshops with our staff and volunteers.

These visits aren’t just fun (though they are that too). For people living in stressful and uncertain conditions, moments of genuine play and laughter matter. And for the teams working in these settings day after day, the workshops are a real reset.

This month's "Faces of Paréa" features Bahaa Aldeen from Palestine. 💛
A moka, a coffee, a tea. People smiling, dancing, moving through their day. When Bahaa is stressed, he comes to Paréa, and something shifts. That is not a small thing.
But Paréa is also a place where practical life gets a little less hard. A legal consultation before an asylum interview. A washing machine available whenever he needs one, because that kind of flexibility isn't always easy to find.
Bahaa said "thank you for this amazing place." We pass that thank you on to everyone who makes it possible.

Looking for new volunteers to join us on Lesvos! 🇬🇷

We are currently opening positions for our summer team. If you’re looking to support our work on the ground, we have two roles available:

🚐 Driver Volunteers: Helping with our minivan service and supporting the program at Paréa Lesvos.

🤝 General Volunteers: Supporting our community spaces, including the café, lunch distribution, and our daily activity programs.

The Details:
📍 Location: Lesvos, Greece
🗓️ Timeline: Starting June or July (8+ week commitment)
✅ Requirements: 21+ years old and fluent in English.

This month's "Faces of Paréa" features Abbas from Sudan. 💛

Abbas wishes Paréa was open on Saturdays and Sundays too. A round of video games, basketball outside, coffee at the café, dancing with the others, this is what Abbas found here. Volunteers who feel like family. People who smile every time someone walks through the door.

A few days ago, we got a first taste of Paréa Prints in action. Together with visitors at the Paréa Community Center, we made a collaborative banner using stencil-based screen-printing. Fast, effective, and a lot of fun.

Now we need your help to keep it going. We're raising funds for materials, equipment, and regular workshops so Paréa Prints can grow into what it's meant to be: a social enterprise where people on the move learn a real craft and eventually generate their own income.

Four years ago, we opened the doors of Paréa on Lesvos with the belief that everyone deserves a place to belong. What it has grown into since then is something we could not have imagined without every single person who showed up.

To the people who made Paréa their space: this was always yours. To our team, volunteers, and partners who show up every day: you are the heart of this. To our donors and supporters around the world who make it all possible: thank you for believing in this work.

Paréa Prints is a project by Europe Cares e.V. at the Paréa Community Center, right next to the island's refugee camp. We offer professional screen printing training to asylum seekers and refugees, no matter their legal status, language level or background. Participants learn the full process from preparing screens to printing finished products for real clients. 🎨

The workshop is up and running but we need €3,000 for materials. Inks, emulsion, printing frames, blank textiles and paper. Basically everything that makes a print a print. Good prints don’t grow on trees. But with your help, they can grow here. Every donation goes directly to workshop materials. 🙏

Meet Rüzgâr. He's one of the people building .prints from the ground up.

Paréa Prints is a screen-printing workshop at the Paréa Community Center on Lesvos. People on the move learn a craft, make products and gain skills they can actually use. On the island and beyond.

Screen-printing is accessible, creative and marketable. The workshop is run by the community, for the community. Everyone who joins learns the full process, from design to finished print.
