Every morning, the little cat with the patched brown coat claimed the same spot. Perched on the warm stone wall between shadow and sun, she watched the world through the white railing.
She wasn't anyone's cat. She was a stray. But she had routines. At 8 a.m., the old man with the cane would shuffle past. He never looked, but his pockets smelled like tuna. At noon, children ran home from school, their laughter bouncing off the whitewashed walls with the dark stones. At dusk, the flowers above her head would close, and the ledge would turn cold.
What she really wanted wasn't the tuna or the sunshine. It was the sound that came from behind the railing sometimes: a door opening. A voice calling "come inside." A hand that didn't pull back.
Today, the door opened. A girl with paint on her hands stepped out and froze. The cat didn't run. She just waited, tail curled tight, eyes half-closed against the sun.
The girl crouched. "You live here?" she whispered.
The cat looked past the railing, into the cool shade of the house. Her ledge was warm, but it was still outside.
"No," the girl answered herself, smiling. "Not yet."
The door stayed open. And this time, the little cat stepped through.
This is what every cat wants… a home with full acceptance, cuddles, and enough food and fresh water. So don’t shop but adopt a stray cat instead 🙏🏼💙
